i am always thinking about what will be the next thing to lead me in the right direction. im starting to think what else is after this life? why am i hear? all the lies and conditioning that myself and everyone else in the world goes through since birth....all that stuff. the matrix opened a pandoras box with me, i cant lie. however, i wont let it ruin me and drive me mad like the others because like you said "you will never know", but at the same time i need to know.

How are we here is what I wanna know. And why. I used to want to know why, now I've been thinking about it. How are we here? The big bang, what came first? Am I a tree in an infinite forest reliving a story once told to me? Where'd the forest come from? Ah, hell, a big bang...a singularity.

Comet: don't know if you still need an answer, but Kant was the 18th century German dude with the categorical imperative. I thought it was struck down by the "Liar's paradox" some time ago, and it seems a strange username for this board as Kant also believed that subjects (i.e. human minds) actually create the objective world around them in a certain way (i.e. the Matrix). But whatever, to each his own.

As to the original poster of this thread. You can't just take theory and philosophy out of this world or your life without creating a big, black, vaccuous hole and all you have left is direct experience. As others have pointed out you would lose science, imagination, art, culture, etc.. I think that's even less "normal" than any speculation that goes on here.
