From "The Matrix", Morpheus said:

Quote:

"The Matrix is everywhere, it's all around us, here even in this room."

From the bible, we know that God is everywhere, he looks after us.

So, I would say Matrix is the God. Matrix is a form of God.

The matrix is any form of control. It is only 'God' when God is a tool used for control. Most religions consider God to be more than simply a controlling factor. Any religion that has God as a 'Big Brother is watching you" kind of figure is pretty twisted.

You can feel it when you go to work (social control), when you go to church (religious control), when you pay your taxes (state control). It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth (the truth of freedom).

Thus the matrix is a movie about freedom of lifestyle, freedom of religion and freedom from state control. With all of these things there has to be balance otherwise it would end with a souless, chaotic anarchy. There has to be some control - but it is important that control be limited.
