»Does smith call Neo, Neo before m3? not mr anderson?«

I was reading the scripts the other day and noticed something out of the ordinary...

we know smith never called neo, neo, but mr anderson throughout the entire trilogy...but in my reading i came across the part in the beginning of m2 where smith gives the guard the ear piece and says,

Smith: I'm looking for Neo. Corrupt: Never heard of him. Smith: I have something for him. A gift. You see, he set me free. Corrupt: Fine, whatever. Now piss off.

first is this a typo or does he really say neo?
second does anyone see any significance in this? there has to be...it is the only time he says it, minus the time the oracle talks through him in the end of m3....let me know your findings...

He only says it for a functional reason.

All the rebels know him as Neo. Maybe the other rebel-ships were never told that his name in the Matrix was Thomas Anderson.

And the Oracle does not really speak through him. But that's a whole other story

This reminds me of that speech about superman in KB2.

Neo is really Neo. That's who he is - who he was born as. Thomas Anderson is simply a name given to him to hide his true destiny from him. Thomas Anderson is the disguise and Neo is the real him.

I guess it doesn't work that well because no one spends any time finding out what his alternate identity is - they already know...

Ya Smith does say that. But only because that is his hacker name; that is what the rebels know him as.

There's a movie called "Cypher" which is of a similar style to the matrix. It deals with concepts of identity and is based on a Philip K. Dick story.
