Nah I think you should get a Packard-bell 213421421 mega super unit with double syncro power and dual monkey brain control.

As always one important issue is what you plan to do with it.

It's impossible to suggest a particular one blind like this, but here are some pointers.

Batteries are one thing to consider - will you be using it on the move or just in situ in different locations.

Look for models with generic expansion slots - ie, you can slip out the floppy drive and replace it with a second battery if needed.

Look at what is "built in" and what hangs out the back on a series of wires and has to be carried 'round like a jigsaw.

Check out memory costs - it might seem like enough now, but this has got to last and you don't want to find out a couple of yeas down the road that it costs the same as you paid for the notebook to get more RAM. Manufacturers are notorious for this little trick.

Does it need to be durable? sure some models look nice, but will they survive being jostled around with your luggage.

Personal oppinion...

Unless you're a graphic deigner or something I'd resist the Mac route, sure there is the old PC vs Mac debate, but at the end of the day you have to think about the main difference.

MAC is made by Apple, PC's are made by pretty much everyone else.

The PC by its generic hardware is the better choice in terms of flexibility and the availability of hardware and software. Macs are becoming more generic, but in doing so they are kinda making the PC point for them.

However, notebooks are not the same as desktops and tend to be quite manufacturer specific in terms of upgrades and accessories.

The increasing availability of USB devices helps - you don't need to spend £200 on a specialist floppy drive for your Slick Compaq Powerpose when you can pick up a generic USB floppy for £20.

USB memory sticks a brilliant, but then they'll work with whichever one you end up getting.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Whitelaugh

and there haven't been any strange developments when you've been away another smith, except for one. agent zero is continuously shying away from excellent oppurtunities....seems his weakness is being dependant on you. and being extremely random.
