Is there any significance to the Oracle's Bracelet?

This has been bothering me, but no search on the topic revealed anything.

When the Oracle is chatting with Neo in her kitchen for the last time, she quite obviously puts on a bracelet. Later, when Smith assimilates her, there is a closeup on the bracelet. This can't be a coincidence can it?

I didn't get a good look at it, but if it matches her earrings, then you will notice the Yin/Yang symbol traced within them. Again, it's a symbolic nod to her attempts to unbalance what the Architect is trying to forge.

Of course, I'm still trying to make out the children's alphabet letters on the refrigerator door. The word 'God' is quite prominent by the door handle. But, the QuickTime VR file of that set is somewhat skewed on the Matrix website. I'm going to have to watch the DVD again this weekend to pick this one out.

Peace

There are no coincidences. Where you see coincidence -- I see providence.

Ever other time Smith assimilates someone, he sticks his hand through the chest. Do you really think this is a coincidence? I don't.

Thanks for spotting it. For me it’s just another piece of evidence in a long list confirming who she is.

Here are some of the others...

Always baking cookies

Loves candy

Drinks what looks like lemonade in M1

Always dressed with green. Kitchen is green/red

Candy is red so is cigarette packet among other things, including the plastic looking bracelet. In fact there’s two bracelets she puts on, the other is green.

She’s the only one as far as I know who is able to take on a new shell. She says there aren’t any other programs like her, so she’s unique. Everyone knows her and seems to be able to consult with her. She’s considered to be the Mother of the Matrix. She seems to live independent of the System. She’s not an Exile. She knows more than the Architect, and is also guiding the Anomaly.

Just who in the blazes is she?

I still think that she's toying with Neo about the red candy. I mean, really, isn't it identical to Morpheus' Red Pill. And, besides, who probably gave Morpheus the idea of the red vs. blue pill construct anyway. Sounds like her handiwork to me.

well you know how the oracle said that she was supposed to unbalance the equation? That's a very naughty thing to do. She also loves candy, a somewhat naughty indulgence. That's the connection i see, the candy just accentuates her attitude and purpose.

The candy looks very much like the red pill which we earlier identified with the eating of the apple.

The Oracle loves the eating of the apple; she loves to disobey and to bring about change for the better.

Neo: Why are you here?
Oracle: Same reason. I LOVE candy.

Good point. I think there may well be a multiplex of reasons for the red candy.

As you say, disobedience or rebellion motivated toward change.

The red pill, How far does the rabbit hole go?

Again it’s used in making choice and discovering why.

It is children who love candy and cookies.

Red is very significant in all of the Matrix material, as well as the green. When watching in the future, look particularly for these two colours. Blue is of significance too. You’ll be amazed at the story it tells from the Second Renaissance all the way to the end. Don’t miss out on its true meaning as revealed in Matriculated.

In the Hel(l) club we see the most amazing green scenarios (and laser green light) with lots of man and woman dressed in red (as if it was some kind of gathering of these elements)...

The thing that intrigues me most is the dual simbol in there - when Seraph, trin and Morph climb up the stairs to talk to the Merv we may see a woman dressed in white with her arm extended and a RED APPLE Gumpred in her hand - she doesn't move from her "podium" all along the fight scene that comes next.

This woman in white is facing the camera.

Another woman is on the left side of our heros (while the woman in white was in their right), with her back turned to the camera, dressed in red and with a tatoo in her back that seems as a double white rose...

The analogy to the two trees in the lost paradise seems tempting...

And the interpretation of the white rose versus the red apple too...

Screwy My god. You people have put WAY too much time into these movies. I mean, I love 'em myself...but THEY ARE ENTERTAINMENT. Not a philosophical map for life. Do you actually think the W brothers put THAT much thought into the Oracle's bracelet? Screwy

Actually, thats exactly what these movies are. Its interesting and amusing to see the reaction of those who do not know or understand the reason why these movies are symbolic of OUR life and OUR world.

Interesting thing about the club. Haven't noticed that myself. Even though I tend to notice things like that very well. I'll try to check it out.

I can see where one might draw parallels to the "real" world - these are nothing more than statements by the director or artist on current state of religion/the world, government.

I just have to wonder how many times do you have to watch the movie(s) to notice all that minute crap? Gumpred

hey guys, like inevitability said earlier... it's like... the oracle's the mother
Mothers bake cookies and give children candy. She's always seen in a green home-like dress, and she's often in the kitchen. Look at the orphans she's raising. That's just the way i see it. Another thing. I was thinking, all the red and green stuff with the Oracle. Red and Green are the two major Christmas colors. Perhaps there is some connection there? Like, the Oracle is the Mother (looking at this from a Christianity perspective).

Dear studiogirl, I can understand how this can all seem too much. But the truth is these movies/story are like no other. They have been created to be investigated and delved into. Within lay more and more info & meaning. Just like what was said… I’ll show you just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Appearances can be deceiving! Things are not what they seem.

------------------------------------------

Lusiada, about the red Apple. Are you sure it’s an Apple? Look again, it may be a Strawberry? (sounds funny when I read this back to myself, something for studiogirl to laugh at!)

Also what you said Mentalz37 about red & green & Christmas, these are the only 2 colours on the CHRISTMAS lights at the scene right b4 the boy in the ‘snow’ is transformed into the matrix at the end on SR-2

I was watching it again yesterday - and I keep the idea of the apple - a huge apple (bigger than her hand);

About the rose I'm a bit more doubtefull, but nothing else seems to match...

Maybe someone has some ideas about their meanings and the implications towards the scene - I believe it's an apple also because of Merv's connection to the devil, all the temptations seen in his club, the name of the club - Hel(l) and so on...

A strwberry doesn't make any sense, does it?...

Well, I've post a topic about this. "The Red Apple and the White Rose".

Ideas are wellcomed 3Tooth

another thing... i was thinking about this earlier.
ok, for those of u that are christian (and perhaps those who aren't), in the christian religion, in the bible, food is often eaten that has been blessed (eg, the 5 loaves and 2 fish that feed 5000). this food is filled with the spirit of god. So, anyway, i was thinking, perhaps that's the kind of thing going on with the Oracle's cookie or candy. So many religious traditions have to do with eating (eg. the eucharist every sunday, or all the potato latkes or whatever for hannukah).
Anyway, i'm not entirely sure about it, but it seemed to make sense to me.

I'm thinking that the Oracle eating candy just is another way she demonstrates how the machines are similar in consciencness to the humans. Also, it endears her to Neo - makes her appear more human - grandmotherly. I dont remember her "blessing" the candy. Anyway, it presumably would be Neo that would have to bless food here. He's the messiah, so to speak.
