Despite one's inclination towards this scene, can someone tell me the significance of it. I've heard people say that it represents Sodom and Gamora, where unorthodoxed orgies took place, while juxtaposing the holy union of Trinity and Neo under a holy Arch. Anyone wanna talk about this scene's relevance to the story or religious aspects?

Trinity gets hot -> Zion gets hot.
Trinity has a connection between herself and Zion

Watched Reloaded again last night, so it's fresh in my memory.

I thought the dancing was OK, but the music just isn't what I'm into.

I like the idea that Trinity had that connection with Zion in that scene; however, I thought it could have been a lot shorter.

Dance is a huge part of many cultures, for many reason. Zion is representative of a primal more basic society. That's no more visually displayed than when you see the Neb heading to Zion after the meeting with the other captains. You see this pristine white room with traffic operators, then you flash and see they're plugged into a contstruct. Behind them the gate controllers operate huge, basic machines to actuate the doors.

The scenes in Zion before the temple meeting show that people have very basic fundamental beliefs. They offer Neo food, drink and cloth in return for his blessing. The dance keeps in character with that primal, basic feel. There are no guitars, no speakers just drums.

The music overlayed after is theme music and in no way indicates what the people in the scene are hearing.

If you like "retard"-pep-rallys... The dance-techno-rave thing was too extended. The "Me Tarzan, you Jane" dance stuff didn't impress me at all. Screwy It felt very weird.

Too long and boring, the music I don't remember (= it was nothing special to me). But you are nice, trying to find a hidden sense :-))

I was thinking about this scene post-Revolutions, trying to place 'Hell' in the movies. Don't you think there are two representations of hell or the underworld: one in the Matrix, and one in the real world? Hell Club in the Matrix contrasted with Temple with it's river of blood-red lava. We see dancing in both. In Temple it's real, earthy, and I think intended to show a spiritual experience. Think about the drug overtones in the movies and consider why they might include a rage with people leaping up in temporary ecstacy. Popping red pills? Getting closer to the Source and transcending for a while, to an inner place.
I think that's an important aspect of what we're seeing there in the Temple.

Sup Everyone, huge fan of the Matrix, not insane yet but getting there, the film has been played by me this year at least 50 times (6 times in the cinema) on VCD and now on DVD (Reloaded that is) and same goes to The Matrix and now Matrix Revolution, Loved them all and love the theory's, nice to see how everyone has a different though or opinion, shows we all have creative minds sometimes. I'm fiending for an Interview with the brothers, that would be so perfect so they can tell us what each scene was meant to be and end all those Theory's.

Anyways back to topic, I thought this scene was good, I didn't mind it at all really. Music was cool and the scene was aight.

Ps. This forum is quiet different from some I've been to so can someone please tell me how I can put my own avatar? Thanks

The only way that scene could have been saved is if Zion blew into tiny pieces.

i get the segnificance and the meaning of the scene but it went on and on and on for waay to long! i could have got the point if they had just done it for say a munite and a half. instead it was, um... not a munite and a half!

It is purpose that created us.

It did go for roughly about a minute & a half & I think people are far to synical about it. I do admit I wasn't particuarly impressed with it, but the music is good & the whole scene does have alot of significance to explaining what Zion is like. But I do agree it is slightly boring, but the Movie needed it, otherwise too many idiots would be asking completely stupid and retarded questions about it.

''Tonight let us send a message to that army. Tonight let us shake this cave! Tonight let us tremble these halls of earth, steel, and stone! Let us be heard from red core to black sky. Tonight, let us make them remember. This is Zion! And we are not afraid!''....

...Most of you know this is a dialogue with Morpehus....I always that the Rave scene was stupid...I mean....why dance if 100 of machines are coming to kill you?...But if you read the words then you can see that Morpheus is telling the people to play music and dance...dance realy loud so the Machines can hear them...

..well that my explenation for why they are dancing

I guess I liked the rave/sex scene because of what it represents. What the scene is essentially saying is that there are concrete differences that seperate humans from machines. Primarily, these things are emotions. Emotions such as joy, lust, love, etc. I thought it was clever how the Bros. wanted to stress this than flipped it on us with the Mobil Ave. scene in Revolutions.

How would YOU be able to tell the difference between the dream world...and the real world?

Although the women in the Rave seen were pretty hot, the whole episode itself was a downer. I mean, they knew the machines were coming, they knew that their time was short, but instead of making shells, preparing for war, etc., it was just like "who gives a d*mn, let's party!".

Just my opinion.

First of all, I don't know why they call it "the rave scene", I mean, this is not a rave!

Second of all, the scene is there for a reason, and it's there to represent two things. One, is human nature and sexuality; the very things that makes us human. The other, the sexual part of Neo and Trinity's relationship. Until this scene we only witnessed the "sweet" aspect of their love.

Remember: "To deny our own impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human"

Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is...You have to see it for yourself.

Yes, let us also remember: These people have not much to celebrate. That is why Morpheus rallied them up. They need to keep their morale high becuase of the impending doom that comes upon them. Dancing releases their spirit.
