Some mythologies formalize the struggle between creative order and destructive chaos in terms of a perpetual cycle of creation and desruction, by which worlds are unendingly brought into existence, destroyed and remade.
The Aztecs and the Central American mythology tells of the successive creation and destruction of 5 worlds brought about by fire, flood, earthquake etc..
The Graeco-Roman tradition describes 5 successive ages, each associated with a different race of men. This began with the Golden Age when human beings enjoyed eternal youth and freedom from toil, and concludes with the present era, the Age of IRON, which is destined to end in humanity's self destruction.
There is a strong belief of the different Ages of Man from many mythologies (if there is such a thing) and THE CYCLICAL world, the REVOLVING - making a REVOLUTION... what do you think?

well, that was mostly a bunch of bla bla bla... but that was an interesting spin put on the term revolutions at the end there.

Without intolerance, there can be no justice. Without justice, there can be no peace.

I believe those cycles were written down as such to show that futility continues until man rises above it. But, yes, alot of texts refer to ages ending and beginning.

The cyclical nature of the universe is hinted at specifically at the end of Revolutions, when the Oracle replies to Sati that they would probably see Neo again.
