According to the Hindu tradition and beliefs, Sri Ramachandra was born to the Dasharatha (king with ten chariots), once the emperor of Ayodhya. Ramachandra was the seventh re-incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu and came upon the earth to liberate the world from evil forces.

Rama as he is commonly referred, represents the perfect man for Hindus. He honored the elders, honored his word, launched a great war to defend his wife, and as a ruler brought happiness to his population. Rama is glorified in songs, poetry and art and in some of the greatest works of Indian literature

The Story of Rama
The story of Sri Ramachandra, the prince of Ayodhya is the one most often told in India. Rama was the eldest son of king Dasharatha who had three wives. The youngest of the wives Kaikeyi tricked the king into making her son as the descendent to the throne and made Rama go to the forest in relinquishment.
Rama, the good son that he is, follows the word of the father and goes to the forest for fourteen years. His wife Sita and loyal brother Lakshman follow him and they establish a hermitage.
, the sister of ten headed king Rawana of Sri Lanka wishes to court the prince in the forest. She is refused and humiliated. In anger and rage, Rawana kidnaps Sita with the help of his brother Maricha to Lanka and keeps her arrested in his garden.
What follows is the great search for Sita, the friends (Hanuman), Sugreev, etc) the brothers make, the monkey armies they build, and the oceans they bridge to bring Sita back to Ayodhya that is glorified in the great works of Indian arts and literature.

The Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna assumed a human form as Sri Ramachandra and appeared on the earth for the purpose of doing some pleasing work for the demigods or the administrative personalities to maintain the order of the universe. Sometimes great demons and atheists like Ravana and Hiranyakasipu and many others become very famous due to advancing material civilization by the help of material science and other activities with a spirit of challenging the established order of the Lord. For example, the attempt to fly to other planets by material means is a challenge to the established order. The conditions of each and every planet are different, and different classes of human beings are accommodated there for particular purposes mentioned in the codes of the Lord. But, puffed up by tiny success in material advancement, sometimes the godless materialists challenge the existence of God.
Ravana was one of them, and he wanted to deport ordinary men to the planet of Indra (heaven) by material means without consideration of the necessary qualifications. He wanted a staircase to be built up directly reaching the heavenly planet so that people might not be required to undergo the routine of pious work necessary to enter that planet.
He also wanted to perform other acts against the established rule of the Lord. He even challenged the authority of Sri Rama, the Personality of Godhead, and kidnapped His wife, Sita. Of course Lord Rama came to chastise this atheist, answering the prayer and desire of the demigods. He therefore took up the challenge of Ravana, and the complete activity is the subject matter of the Ramayana. Because Lord Ramachandra was the Personality of Godhead, He exhibited superhuman activities which no human being, including the materially advanced Ravana, could perform

and the last one...sorry guys...

Sati was a wife of Lord Shiva. You can start from there. I dont really think there is much of a connection with the name except Rama being a Hindu diety and perfect man. Remember that Rama did not run away from his purpose (Karma). He embraced it but at the same time embraced and loved his family.

BTW, if you are looking for connections to Hinduism and character comparisons as well I can help you. Let me know.
