does anyone else wish they would have put something in the matrix movies implying what happens when the humans die in the real world? what happens after that life? with all the deep meanings in the movies i figured they would do something along those lines...maybe you can just say their code goes on in the matrix...the same thing could be said of neo..kinda like when anything dies and decomposes it returns to the earth...

you mean when they are in the pods? perhaps a heart defect or anurism accurs and they just drop dead, within the matrix they would probably just drop dead and people would say "that guy died of a heart attack". As they age in the pods they age in the matrix so maybe they die of old age or maybe the Machines 'arrange' and accident within the matrix when a body reaches a certain age and does not produce an efficient amount of power....they bump them off so to speak

From the first movie we see that when a person in the pod dies they are broken down into pulp and feed to the other pods. Thats what that pink liquid in the pods is. Morphus explains it to neo. Its the image of the liquid coming in to the pod with the baby in it.

here is an explanation i came up with that i like

the time in the matrix runs much faster than the real world time...so a person in a pod would live several lives inside the matrix...this would account for the real life phenomena of "past life" memories

I think the One-der-man means is that the directors should have included some reference or something that would make us think philosophically about the afterlife. That is a good point but I never thought about it. IF they made a fourth movie, (which they wont) then that issue would probably be addressed. It makes sense for them to put it in the fourth (which there wont be)

not putting in anything about when the people of zion die...the freed people...what happens in their afterlife?

They CAN. But they dont.
