I found that view quite interesting ... (although it was written before Revolutions)
THIS post is here to keep an attention to the above linked article, which Reload_This haven't done in the best way (sorry man, I just want to say that it's better to say a bit more to get the answer you desire).
I tried to summarize the content and bring it to discussion:
Matrix and Zion both as a world that was pulled over machine (A.I.) sensory to blind them from the truth - that their Machine city (01) is trapped in the small world, covered permanently by the sky, to convince them that they defeated the humankind, although the reality was quite the opposite: humans won the war by taking over machine sensory and let them develop the human feelings, that machines so desperatelly deserved, at least within the matrix ... that's a revolution!
It builds a lot on Second Ranaissance and although it have certain loopholes, it is able to explain Neo's powers in the 'real' world - how he stopped the sentinels and arrived at Mobil ave, and why Bane is also in coma. Neo is a machine! He stopped the sentinels by generating the EMP burst and get to the coma for the same reason Bane did - he also blown the EMP. However, being the different kind of a machine (maybe android?) compared to sentinels, he was able to recover after some time ... the same thing happen when human were bombing 01 in Second Ranaissance - machines fell temporarily into some coma and this opportunity was utilized by humans to remotely reprogramm the machines (broadcasting from the planes).
This seems to be the core idea of that linked article. It is quite long because it seeks another proves or discuss the dis-proves but it sounds interesting -- I would recommend to read the article at least to get some thought-provoking ideas 
The author was expecting confirmation of his theory in Revolutions but I don't know what he said once the movie gets published ...
Neo being blindfolded at the end of M3 may somehow prove this theory - although he seems to be enlighted, in fact he is not, he is blind to the real thuth: that the Matrix-Zion system + deserted piece of world was created by humans just to get the A.I. under controll.
Maybe, if Neo's code wouldn't be assimilated by Smith and disseminated via the Source, he could find the truth ...
In this circumstances, the Source may be the source of human controll over the machines ... the virus underlying all the machine connections to reality in order to keep them aside the rest of the Earth.
