I think he is considerably more up to date with the news than you are. He doesn't make all his discoveries by making them up on the spot and certainly not by watching CNN. He has to do serious research to get his books written.

Believe it or not, popularising the news in the way he does requires an exceptional knowledge of politics, not an absence of one. It's the same as how Les Dawson requires an exceptional knowledge of piano playing to do his act (he pretends to be an awful piano player by getting notes slightly off key - it's very funny).

Much of Michael Moore's writing is intended to be ridiculous in order to satirise the way things really are. In Stupid White Men he suggests several ridiculous ideas for gaining world peace, but each one makes good points about the state of the world today. (He suggests that the problems in North Korea are all due to their leader, who is a big movie fanatic, watching the wrong movies, lol!)

I'm presuming that you are a Bush fan so the very fact that he is not is going to bias you against him. But, don't make the mistake of presuming that his popularised political writings are lacking in truth. All political reporting is biased, but Moore often reveals things which many people tend to miss in the governmental propaganda.

I wish there was somebody like that in Britain who could tell me what the whole deal with David Kelly is. Some of us are convinced that his suicide was fake and that he was actually murdered. After the whole report on that ended up blaming the BBC, of all people, for acting unreasonably, it all seems very fishy indeed!

but speaking of Michael Moore.. i just read that Disney are trying to stop him releasing his new movie Farenheit 911. The movie is being produced by Disney subsidiary Miramax and Disney have officially decided to prohibit them from distributing it.

the film highly criticizes Bush for his actions over sept 11th and the NY Times has reported that the reason is because Disney might lose millions of dollars in tax breaks that it receives from the state of Florida because it will piss off Jeb Bush, who is the Governer there. the movie's still gonna get seen no matter what, since its been chosen for the Cannes Film Festival...

and also, people who are getting all worked up about michael moore need to chill! like fatpie says, he does aim at ridiculous for the sake of satire.. .. but whatever u make of what Moore says in Stupid White Men and Bowling For Columbine etc they are well written and very funny... but at the end of the day it's just another opinion.. if u don't subscribe to that opinion.. then that's fine, who cares.. everyone disagrees about something

I think Michael Moore is brilliant. Looks like to me that most of his stuff is true even though he can exaturate a little. Can't see what you have against Moore . Is it because he's telling the truth or that he's lying? Because this ''patriotism'' in America is the most corny thing in the world and everone seem to understand how stupid Americans can sometimes look. And don't get me wrong you Americans out there. Americans are propably the nicest people I have met and America is a great country but when I see a flag or a sticker with a picture of the word trade center and american soldiers and the title ''we will never forgett'' I just want to vomit. And I think Moore wants also to vomit when he sees this.

one of my michael moore hating acquaintances once criticized Bowling For Columbine's opening sequence, where he obtains his free gun from the bank.. his problem with this sequence was the fact that Michael Moore had neglected to tell us that these guns were not stored at the bank, but rather in a depot a couple miles down the road.

this is a valid point. HOWEVER, this is not something unique to michael moore... i think you'll find that all documentaries look for a certain spin on the story and it is the flim-makers who choose what to include and what to exclude. but what makes this criticism of michael moore so weak.. is the fact that this is no less than what 99% of the US media coverage are guilty of! the american news is tainted with so many similar, though far more serious manipulative media techniques to appease the political parties.

in my opinion these actions is far more sickening than any of the points, satirical or serious, that michael moore could ever make.

Alot of the crap he says isnt even true. He is one of the biggest Bush critics. Bush is a damn good president. The best since regan. He stood firmly for what he believes and i support him. Moore just goes saying "Bush is bad" and crap like that. its so F'n stupid.

Bush doing a greatd job? I live in Iceland so maybe I havent much a saying but everything I have heard about Bush and what he has done is bad. I have yet yo hear ONE! positive thing about Bush....

Contra was a video game! and yes if you live in another country all you hear is the bad stuff cause thats what the media tells you. But he is an incredible guy. He was strong when it came to 9/11. thats only one thing too. thetre are so many....heres a recent one....he tried to get a bill passed for 15 million to help out the african nations with the aids epidemic, but the democrats dropped it to 3....bunch of money grubbers those people are....

1st of all it was miss communication between the CIA and FBI trust me i did a huge 3 month study on this for my senior project....it was the FBI who had the file with the threats....They knew about but some idiot in arizona who thought it wasnt that big of a deal....it is a big deal now....bush couldnt of stopped it anyway....it was the government in general who knew but never told him....they are to blame....bush didnt know at all.

Either the FBI and the CIA are incompetent or some seriously big fibs are being told here. The FBI and the CIA are very powerful and very careful. I doubt that they are really so stupid as we are being told. I very much doubt that Bush isn't informed about what they're up to.

Well it looks like 90% of Americans Hate moore and the rest of the world like him and I regret to say but is it maybe because that Americans are ignorant? Because i know they are not. I know alot of Americans that don't like Bush but many Americans out there hate moore and like Bush...for NO reason. Bush is clearly doing a bad job and it dosn't matter that he's not our president. He is the leader of the most powerfull nation in the world so I think it matters what other countrys think about him.
