Possible Proof of a 4th Matrix Movie

Here is an excerpt of a chat interview of the Wichowski Bros. it took place not long after the release of the first movie in theaters. The matrix was released in the summer of 1999 and this interview took place in November 1999. here is the link to the entire interview:

whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com...

Now here is what I want to draw your attention to:

November 6, 1999
Chat with the Wachowski Brothers

The brothers sat down this past Saturday night for a bit of a chat, one which tried something a little different. Those with the DVD, and a DVD-ROM player, were able to watch the movie along with the directors. This allowed Larry and Andy to comment on specific scenes while people asked their questions. Those without a DVD-ROM were, of course, also able to participate. For this transcript, we've included a short description of what was being viewed during the chat.

now here is a specific question to them from a chatter and the Wachowski Bros response to it:

JediKnight: Have you been approached with any sci-fi scripts and do you have plans to do any?

WachowskiBros: Right now, we're focusing just on Matrix 2 and 3.

Now then in light of this statement that says they're focusing on Matrix 2 and 3 I can easily conclude that there in fact will be a 4th one. Because if you recall just before Reloaded was released they announced that it was supposed to be matrix 2 but they found it to be too long so they split it in two creating Matrix Revolutions. So since they ogriginally had three movies planned long before they even began shooting Reloaded then their must be a 4th one coming.

What do you think?

I honestly don't know. But I don't think they should or will make another one. I think they knew all along Reloaded/Revolutions were going to be two movies. It was just easier to film them together. The rumors of sequals persist, but I think the Matrix is over. It went out on a good note, best trilogy ever IMO.

I think that they already knew it was going to need to be split into two. Both movies are huge so it was pretty obvious!

I'm really looking forward to what they do next. Whatever they do now it'll most likely be awesome! Smile

I wonder if the brothers have any different (not Matrix) ideas to film next... though I still want more Matrix! (hopefully comics/Animatrix)

I too would love to see more of the Matrix. I have all of the Matrix movies....shhh can't tell ya how I already have Revolutions eventhough it hasn't been released on DVD yet.

I also have Annimatrix and the Enter The Matrix Game for PC and PS2. There are many substories within the story that the Wachowski Bros. could develop.

I would also like to see these brothers do a different story all together because I think that they have a good handle on using their combined creative genius's to entertain the masses.

The only disappointment I have with the movies as a whole was the last 7 minutes. In my simple-minded opinion I feel that they took a vacation when the ending of Revolutions was written or perhaps they let set janitor write it Whitelaugh

BTW here's two movies that are similar to the Matrix that you might find interesting although I have a feeling that most die-hard Matrix fans probably have seen them. They are: Dark City and The Thirteenth Floor.

The best matrix-like movie I have seen is "Open Your Eyes". That movie rocks!

Yes a very awesome movie starring Penelope Cruiz. You can also watch the remake version of this story titled, "Vanilla Sky" starring Tom Cruz and Penelople Cruiz.

Thank you for bringing this on up it indeed rocks as a motion picture and certainly has a Matrix theme interwoven within the confines of the story.

I was deliberately avoiding mentioning the travesty of an unecessary remake which is Vanilla Sky.

If you want worse acting, uneccessary additions to the script and less subtle direction then Vanilla Sky is the one for you.

If you have taste then Open Your Eyes is the one for you. Because it has none of the stupid additions it is easier to understand too!

I think M2 and M3 decreased the value of M1. In other words, I would love M1 more than this if there weren't M2 and M3.

So I'd be happy if they don't make any new Matrix movies unless it's about the time before M1, like how the machines ruled the world. I know this was mentioned in Animatrix but it'd be great to see as a movie.

Hmmm I'd rather they made the sequels than didn't make them. I just wish they'd edit out some of those naff lines in Matrix Revolutions and perhaps did a director's cut with scenes from Enter The Matrix in it.

I totally agree with you here. Vanilla Sky at its best is a watered down version of Open Your Eyes. But hopefully in mentioning Vanilla Sky perhaps some of those who enjoyed that story will now look to see the real one. People if you've seen Vanilla Sky and enjoyed it you have seen nothing yet. Go check out Open Your Eyes it'll be like seeing a movie first then reading the book. The book is usually so much better. This is truly the case between these two movies.

If you like Open Your Eyes, watch Thesis. It's another spanish movie by the same director and it is just as clever.

I agree. otherwise it'll not be a trilogy, and they'll be force to make another three movies...

prequels r always crap. Look at Star Wars. Destroying a classic. Something in the future within the universe of the Matrix is fine, but prequels would kill the whole thing.

Ok guys, another thought Smile

LOL

We all know M2 and M3 were apparently one big movie.

So what if the Third installment is still coming?

Eg:

Part 1: The Matrix
Part 2: Reloaded & Revolutions
Part 3: The Frigging Answers LOL

Just a thought. Smile

[edit]

And what if we think of it another way Smile

Part 1: Reloaded
Part 2: Revolutions
Part 3: The Answers

Matrix 1 being a seperate entity altogether.

?

Only thoughts. Smile

The original Matrix has a purple logo. Reloaded and Revolutions have a green logo, as if they are one.

I don't want more Matrix movies, they ended them too well but more Animatrix with stories like stuff about Switch, Mouse and Apoch and one about Tank actually dieing or ultimately, one of the previous ones or Smith taking over the Matrix. Just lots of minor things like that will be great but MxO (Matrix Online) is ultimately going to be the sequel to movies as it will have story aswell as mad gameplay. THIS YEAR. IT COMES!

Well..... here I am.

Not so, the 3 Matrix films all went for longer then 1:30 making them feature films where as the Animatrix is a compilation of 9 short movies. Leaving the films a Trilogy but the Animatrix just adds to the Saga.

I don't think that another sequel is needed but it would be good to see additional stories / short movies / comics set in the matrix universe. What I would like to see is some stories in the previous matrices. We know the first one was Eden (with angels etc) but what about 2-5. Were these similar to version 6 or were there other concepts. Here's a thought - what if our legents & myths relate to other versions - ie a "Transylvanian" matrix with werewolves & vampires, "Atlantis", etc.

Why there will only be 3 movies

The matrix will stay at only 3 movies because, I think everyone wants another Matrix just because they want answers to their questions. I thibk the brothers wanted it only as three because look at some of the coversation on this forum, this is what they wanted. Your own endings, what you think happened, etc... I realize its difficult to except a movie without closure but this movie changes your perspectives on some things, doesn't it? Doesn't it free you mind? Like in the movie the Oracle never gave Neo, or Morpheus, or Niobe the answers, she just told them what they needed to hear. This movie is like that it told you what you needed to hear. If you don't believe my theories or you believe a movie should give you the answers or closure please tell me why. I think this open-ended ending makes this movie unique and different than any other movie exspecially Lord of the Rings.

But how long are you willing to ''make up'' endings...

..I would say *Hurray* if a 4. movie was to be made...

Dumb ass, Animatrix isn't a movie! its a sequence of animated stories from the matrix creators!
