c'mon... Smith is nasty, to be sure, but nothing can beat the Dark Lords of the Sith for pure evil... Sidious' (Emperor Palpatine) sickeningly sweet smile that turns so smothly into a grimace of hatred as he's electrocuting fagboy (alright, I'll give you that one; Luke is not the most convincing of heroes)...? And Maul is no lightweight... I love how he paces like a wild animal while Qui-Gon Jinn sits quietly in meditation, trying to get some strength back.... Tyranus (Dooku) is pretty badass, but what else could we expect from Dracula himself?

And then there's Vader.... All I have to say is:

"I find your lack of faith disturbing."

For my money, there's nothing better.

And if you're not a big fan of samurai movies, or of swordplay in general, then I guess you won't be big on lightsabres, either.... Though I will never understand why anyone wouldn't....

The duels in Episode III are supposed to be spectacular!

Could be pretty awesome. I mean, Anakin is supposed to kill all the Jedis or something, then Obi gets back at him and fucks him up. The fights better not be like that fucking Yoda fight, that really shitted me.

HA, a volcano, thats original. Does he get pushed or does he do the old "I'm so shit I have to fall to my death because I can't balance my feet properly" or "I'm a jedi that can jump uber high and float things with my mind but I can't pull my self up over this ledge."

its a bit more convincing than cracking to pieces with glowing eyes while jerking around and like a really bad dancer before screaming like a girl

Oh, man.... The only problem I had with Yoda's fight with Dooku (indeed, all the lightsaber duels in AOTC) was that it was too short. I practically stood up and cheered when the Master opened up his can of whoopass on Dooku. I had even spoiled most of the movie beforehand (something I don't intend to do so much this time) and it STILL kicked my ass!

By the way, Fatpie42, youw new avataw is gweat! Ding!

In actuality, I thought Samuel L. lopping Jango Fett's head off was one of the cooler things to happen in the Star Wars saga.

Yeah, well.... I happen to be rather fond of lightsabers.... I loved Mace's style, but my only complaint about it in AOTC was, again, not enough of it!

You can call me a geek if you like, but 'nerd' offends me a bit. It calls to mind the pocket-protector-wearing, calculus-loving, pimply social retards depicted in '80s movies... something I never have been. However, anyone who's fond of computers could be called a geek, as could anyone who's obsessive about a movie, like Star Wars, or The Matrix.... Please do not equate the two.

If you ask me (and I know no one did ), there's nothing nerdy or dorky about a sword, whether made of steel or of energy. It is an elegant weapon, in any age, and in any galaxy. If you yelled at someone because they got excited to see a venerable old sage get down with a sabre in such an unexpected way, well, shame on you for closing your mind to the the beautiful art of swordplay.

As far as Ep.3 goes, the duels are supposed to be amazing, as i said before. According to both Nick Gillard and Rick McCallum, the movie will have more lightsaber fighting than any of the previous movies. I hear that in addition to the big Obi-Wan/Anakin duel ('longest lightsaber duel ever,' according to Nick Gillard), we'll see a lot more lightsaber combat from Mace Windu, Yoda, Aayla Secura (the blue Twi'lek Jedi in the Geonosis arena battle), someone using more than one sabre (to avoid spoilers), Dooku, and more....

So ep3 is just gonna be a non-stop gore fest? Sweet. Well it comes out this year, and I need to see some cool violence. But another thing I don't like about Starwars fights is all the stupid pointless flips. This one better have good fights and plot.

we will probably all be dissapointed. allthough i hat SW i was still there opening days on the other prequals so ill proably with this one too.

apparently that is not far off the mark

i read that it is his hatred that keeps him alive and that there will be a distinction in the sense that anakin will die and at this point he becomes vader

i dont know how this ties in with the ending for return of the jedi but who knows

Luke and Vader never do it when they fight, they just duel in a kick arse way where Vader is just toying with him. They don't need to flip, the fights are more based on their saber and force skill rather then there ability to flip alot.

did you even SEE the classic trilogy?

Luke backflips up onto a high walkway during the duel in ROTJ. Mostly to get away from Vader.... He does a Force Jump in TESB, to get out of the carbon freeze chamber. Okay, that's not so much a flip, but it's pretty much the same to me: Force acrobatics.

Vader uses the Force to hurl stuff at Luke in TESB, but I'm flummoxed as to ANY other time he uses a Force power in a fight. I can't recall any other Force moves by Luke, either, aside from the jumps, and calling his lightsabre to him (pretty basic move for a Jedi).

And, what sabre skill? Compared to the fights in the prequels, the Luke/Vader duels are a bit on the dull side. (not that they are dull in and of themselves... they are quite good, just not near as exciting as, say, Maul/Kenobi/Jinn.)

Perhaps you refer to the flipping Yoda? I believe the whole point was to show that while he is an ancient little dude, he can call upon the Force to give him strength and agility when he needs to.... Nobody else fights that way. And, seriously, consider.... Would you have believed the 2-metre tall Dooku fighting the 2-foot tall Yoda ON THE GROUND?

.... you name about 2 flips in two of the good Star Wars movies. I'm not saying I don't like flips used in movies, I just hate it when they're used so pointlessly.

Forceskill includes their slight ability of foresight giving them enhanced reflexes. I prefer the fights in the classic star wars then to the fights in the new star wars any day.
