»Morpheus as a reference to Martin Luther King«

At first I have to say I know almost nothing about Martin Luther King but there are some similarities between him and Morpheus, which I have observed:

- both are black
- the scene where Morpheus talk to the Zionites in temple is like a homily of Matrin Luther King
- one of the most famous speeches of MLK is called "I Have A Dream" and there are at least two connection to Morpheus in the movies:

At the end of Reloaded

- generally, Morpheus is like a leader to the majority of people in Zion, which is pretty similar to the leadership of Martin Luther for the black americans in the quest for their rights

There can be much more of it, but I know only few about american history (and my native language is czech, so excuse my mistakes) thus I hope there will be someone better educated, who could tell me more.

I think the similarities may be because the directors wanted to have a strong black man character, they may have been influenced in the creation of Morpheus by possibly the most famous and strong black person ever, Martin Luther King.
Also Morpheus is the name of the god of sleep/dreams, so thats why the dream links are there.
Also it may be possible that Morpheus may be thought of as similar to MLK just because they are both strong black men.
Still an intersting comment, I dont think ive ever heard anyone else linking the two

MLK's speech has been called, "I have a dream"
Morpheus' could be called, "I remember"

Both were gunned down by assassins with unknown allegiances.

The FBI was after MLK like the Agents were after Morpheus. Neo was bugged to get to Morpheus and the Feds tried the same trick. LOL
