The oracle game was dangerous is because she carries a 38 special in her purse. There we are finally back on track.. any other ideas?

So, what do you think about my pre-previous post up there? No one commented on it.

It was about Oracle's free will - and I think she isn't completely free, because she is also part of the system, which may be another reason for her tricky game - she may be tried to free also herself.

Another thought - Smith seems to be the catalyzator of change - he took over Oracle and all people in the matrix, probably also over Sati and Seraph and finally over Neo. So he combined different elements into One, which resulted in system crash and its renewal.

I can see the final moment (Smith took over Neo) this way: machines (represented by Smith and Oracle) absorbed the essence of humanity (Neo and all matrix inhabitants) and humans let themselves being absorbed - which irrevocably resulted in fundamental change in human-machine relation => symbiosis?

"Change always is" as Oracle said. But she didn't know how would be the change like - it could resulted in the end of all humanity. In order to win human soul, you have to bet everything and believe.

I agree titek. All those factors you've mention are all good points. It was risky, as the oracle didn't know what the outcome of those choices she made. But she always believe it would work out some how.

Knowing for sure is a safe bet .... Relying on hopes and beliefs are not only risky, it can also be dangerous..

It's all fun and games 'til someone loses the Oracle's eyes!

Personally, I think the dangerous game refers to an off-camera cookie fight where Seraph planted a wad of raw cookie dough in Sati's left nostril.

Here's my theory:

The Oracle states that the purpose of the Architect is to balance all the equation, and that her purpose is to unbalance them.

So ask yourself, why unbalance the equation? A balanced equation, you would think, would be more stable. My answer is if the Matrix is too balanced, too stable, it gets stagnant, and people start to disbelieve and then kaput! So the Oracle keeps it unbalanced to keep the Matrix from getting stagnant.

Her response to the Architect's dangerous game comment is that "Change always is [dangerous]." So we can also say that the "dangerous game" was all about change. But change isn't always good. However, growth and improvement are both forms of change that are generally good. So I assume the Oracle is interested in making a better Matrix, which she believes can be achieved by peace.

So anyway, lets' get back to addressing the question "What was the dangerous game?"

Here are some possible answers:

1) Making Neo's love specific rather than general.
2) Making Neo more powerful than previous "Ones"
3) Putting Smith into the equation as an anti-Neo
4) Allowing Smith to absorb herself and the Oracle's eyes
5) Some or all of the above

Anyone have any comments on these? Is one answer better than the others? Is there a better answer that I'm ignoring?

I think the answer is a variety of things. She wanted to bring about peace and change the matrix by `unbalancing'. She takes several steps in doing this. I think first she plays Cupid with Neo and Trinity and helps them fall in love. This factor combined with the evolution of the One makes Neo choose the other door in the Architect's chamber, which is what the Oracle wanted. She then helps Neo understand that machines are just like humans and that his goal shouldn't be to destroy them but to bring about peace. This was the whole shell losing and meeting Sati thing. She finally clues him into the fact that he must fight Smith, his opposite, to bring about that peace. She lets him know that he can hack the sentinel's code so there is a possibility he can go to the machine city. She also lets Smith take over her and makes Smith overconfident about the end. She realizes that if Neo does not understand what he has to do- sacrafice himself, this will be her end. Neo does all that she wanted him to do- go to machine city, ask for peace, fight Smith and sacrafice himself. All this is the makings of the dangerous game.
