The final flight of the osirus was the only one worth watching, though it didn't really add anything to the over-all plot. All the other ones reeked of normal, dumb anime plotlines.

I don't think the others are dumb. FFoO was rather straight-forward whereas the others were exploring different areas and ideas, thus more creative.

I wonder what would happen if you ate both pills...

They used some sort of chemical, I think. Not scorched literally.

BTW, did the bros. write that story? I can't remember.

How do you know it was in Japan? I'm sick of all Japanese being sterotyped as people who like to sit in bathtubs and defecate huge fountains of diarhhea into their faces. Perhaps that was true several years ago, but not anymore. I expected better from you, knnknn.

The Final flight of the Osiris was very good, but I loved the Second Renaissance Pts.1 and 2 as they gave us an insight into what happened that made Machines and Humans hate each other..

After Pt. 1, I did sympathise with the Machines... Humans still have giant chips on their shoulders it seems in this story...

Perhaps we should take note......

At first I was like What the @#$% is this sh@tty animation? doing on this dvd, but after watching the whole thing the story of this kid was interesting. If you put yourself in the kid's position it's pretty scary. I don't think I would be able to do what he did.

My favorites were
1. Program
2. Beyond
3. Detective's Story

But unfortunately, you can only vote for one. I really like the Last Flight of the Orisis, too! That was awsome!

Yeah, I liked Kid's Story, too. I forgot about that one...put it down as my fourth favorite.

I've checked up on the peeps who did the original animes. Andy Jones who did "final flight..." was obviously an animation director for Final Fantasy.
Shinchiro Watanabe (kid's story, detective story) is the director of Cowboy Bebop. Takeshi Kioke (world record) was the lead animator for the movie Ninja Scroll. Yoshiaki Kawajiri (program) is the director of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the X tv series. Koji Morimoto (Beyond) was the assistant animation director for Akira.

That leaves Peter Chung (matriculated) whose most important credit seems to be the opening sequence for Rugrats, and Mahiro Maeda (the second renaissance) who does not seem to have done anything well-known at all.

I must say that even though i didn't get matriculated and it lacked any good dialogue or structure .... um... well it did look pretty.

My favourite was definately Beyond. It was such a brilliant piece of work.

Something about this one particular bit really made me enjoy it. I suppose it was the film noir style it was done in, but I loved it.

I really love the can and the lightbulb part of Beyond, but in general, it's SO cool! The music too, is really great. You know the part where they're flying, right where the dove flies in slo-mo? Is that song in the Animatrix CD? Because I couldn't find it...

Story-wise this was not the strongest of them, but I voted for it because the animation and fight scenes are astounding to me. I'm not usually the type to go for the "plotless wonder" but while the fighting was nice, I like the idea that Cypher was not the only one that wanted back into the Matrix. I like the idea of a test to truly prove someone's loyalty. I just like Program.

The idea of scorching the sky was that the planes were releasing Nano-bots which created the smoke. I liked all of the Animatrix movies but Detectives Story has to be one of my favs. Second Renaissance was great because it explained why the war started. I'd rather just think of it as one combined Matrix experience then decide which one was better.

Well..... here I am.

I'm suprised more people don't like Matriculated! Best graphics of all of them (FFoO possibly excluded) plus elaborates on the "sympathy for the machines" angle which is raised in Second Renaissance & a bit in Smiths "Humanity is a disease" speech in M1...

Actually they should be considered one story in my humble opinion, however the choice to pick part two as the best is based on this

[Surrender your flesh, and a new world awaits you- machine ambassador in his true form, just before nuking manhattan]

After that I think it should be something like:
2. part 1
3. final flight of the Osiris
4. beyond
5. detective story
6. kid's story

P.S. MATRICULATED WAS ONE OF THE WORSTE PIECES OF GARBAGE TO BE CALLED A STORY, IT WAS ABSOLUTELY EFFING POINTLESS AND COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO ANY PART OF THE STORYLINE. IF A PIECE OF CRAP COULD SPROUT APPENDAGES AND THEN TAKE A CRAP OF ITS OWN, THE RESULTING FECES WOULD PROBABLY RESEMBLE 'MATRICULATED'
THANK YOU
