i think that people got oo "hyped up" and wanted too much from it and when a generaly good film was produced it didnt meet peoples spec of what they wanted to see

i also thought that m3 was great. but most of the fans were looking for a simple ending in which the humans overthrow machine rule and take back the earth. most people aren't able to deal with the more sophisticated, adult ending that the film actually gives us. i think it's brilliant. my only real complaint is that the film spent too much time on the zion fight and not enough time tying up some loose ends. i would have liked to have seen a good 20 minute outro; the ending just seems rushed to me.

I thought it was a good movie....less awsome fight scenes, but still, you have to give it the respect it deserves.

ok, the reason I hate Rev was the indefinate ending. I mean, I loved the Matrix, and it had an indefinate ending, but after three movies I would perfer an ending that MAKES SENSE!

The ending made perfect sense! It just didn't tie up all the loose ends (leaving certain things up to interpretation). The ending was the best thing about Matrix.

The last scene (in the park) was crap. But if they'd cut the movie short at the point where the Architect walks away that would've been a cool ending.

By "makes sense" i meant "Is an actual ending"

I was ok with the matrix's ending, but after 3 movies you want to see an ending that is an ending, instead of a "message of hope"

I think there are a few reasons why so many people had problems with Revolutions. After Reloaded, so much action and crazy special effects that no one had ever seen before, people wanted the same in Revolutions. But if you pay attention to Reloaded you will understand that the majority of the movie has to take place in the real world aka there isn't much if any bullet-time scenes, crazy kung fu scenes, etc. People were expecting more of that and were disappointed. But I liked Revolutions because although it left a lot of questions unanswered, everything that happened made sense.
Everyone could not be freed because if they were they wouldn't all fit in Zion.
If Neo had lost to Smith, both worlds would have been destroyed.
If Trinity had lived, Neo would not have sacrificed himself.
Just some thoughts.

"But dammit, the movie is called "Revolutions". I wanted to see pods getting busted open, pseudo-profound revelations about the nature of existence, power struggles and splinter groups forming as different philosophies about the next phase of human life become prevalent with different groups, and I wanted to see the computers get switched the hell off. Or at least, I wanted to see that process approached. I wanted to see the humans try and win their ultimate struggle."

Amen.

Matrix Reloaded worked on one level because it had a forward narrative thrust: Find the Oracle, find the Merovingian, find the Keymaker, find the Architect. The movie followed a basic dramatic principle, go from point "A" to point "Z". Even if M2 was overloaded with special effects and contrived fight scenes, the characters progressed. And you figured that once they went through all this, the characters would find something worthy in M3.

Matrix Revolutions went in circles: return to the Merovingian, get Neo back into his body, fight your way back to Zion. And oh yeah, Neo suddenly heads into Mordor, I mean the Machine City, but even then, he is "returning" to the Source. Character development comes to a dead end.

At no point do we see any reason for Neo to head to the Source, other than a convenient vision of the power lines (where did that come from?). But this had nothing to do with what went before, it was a deux ex machine (or deus ex deus ex machine). I expected him to step out of the shower on the Ewing Ranch.

i wasn't waiting for MR like the second coming.
i wanted to see an end (not really an end) to a story.

i like MR, mostly because i like the "Source" aspect.

yeah, there are A LOT of things that could have happened Visually in the end. BUT the point was to return a program to the source. IMO

i'm a fan, i'm not someone who puts up such high expectations that something i have not seen yet- will not reach.

My opinion on "The Matrix: Revolutions" is that I see both good and bad in it.

The good things about "The Matrix: Revolutions":
"The Matrix: Revolutions" reminded everyone that Neo is human, and that unlike what humans can do while inside the Matrix, they are not invincible in the real world. there is a saying during the trailer of "The Matrix: Revolutions": "Everything that has a beginning, has and end."
I'm pretty sure that the Wachowski brothers based Neo on Jesus Christ, and just like Jesus Christ, Neo died to save his people. If Neo didn't do this, then he wouldn't have followed the "Jesus Christ" routine.

The BAD things about "The Matrix: Revolutions":
Neo died.
Trinity died.
Tons and tons of humans are STILL trapped inside the Matrix.
The Matrix has NOT been destroyed and it still exists!
In "The Matrix: Reloaded", when Neo was in the Architect's room, Neo probably did exactly what previous "The One"s did, which is when given the choice of "Walk through THIS door and destroy the Matrix right here and now OR keep all of the humans trapped inside the Matrix and DO NOT shut down the Matrix, just to save ONE HUMAN: the woman that I love. (Trinity) Did Neo make the right choice and choose to destroy the Matrix and free all the humans trapped inside, even though it would mean the death of ONE HUMAN? NO! Neo messed up, and he is not so much of a hero, since he DID NOT even do what he was SUPPOSED to do: Destroy the Matrix! Neo was given only one job: Destroy the Matrix, and he didn't even do it, meaning in another hundred years or so, the WHOLE thing may happen again: "The One" does NOT destroy the Matrix like he SHOULD HAVE, all to save ONE HUMAN over quite possibly MILLIONS, MAYBE BILLIONS of humans.
Since this is the last Matrix film, we are all left to see that the Matrix still exists, the Machine City still exists, and that the war WILL happen again, and IF it is the LAST war, we will NOT GET TO SEE IT! We will NEVER get to experience the sheer joy of seeing the Matrix and the Machine City completely destroyed for good.

The first post to this thread seemed a little worrying?. it seems to me that some people base too much of their lives on movies!.. the first post seemed to make out that the Matrix has all of life's answers & is a place for worship?.. saying that it opens you up to question so many things!..

Man its a MOVIE !... I think Bladerunner is a brilliant movie and it does raise alot of questions, and did make me think. but thats where it ends!. Real Life experience is where you find you life's answers, not in something that your trying to be a part of that isnt there!. the Matrix isnt Real.. it doesnt exist.!.

( i dont refer this to the rest of the posts, just the initial first!.. to spend 6 months researching it ?.. what the? )

Greetings Friends and Foes.

I thought I'd introduce myself by voicing my opinion on The Matrix Revolutions.

When I watched it I felt this awe build up inside of me. As I walked out of the theatre, I was completely exuasted. It was splendid. I've never felt anything like it before. About any movie.

I loved the challenge that it gave me. I love all the intricates and the dimensions. It is not a perfect movie. There is no such thing as the perfect movie. But it is a perfect movie experience, which is what I want in the end.

The mind bogglism. The green and the blue. The love story.
Ah, there so much more to it than that.

I find it hard to talk about my relationship to the trilogy.
I've been thinking about it for so long now. It has left an inprint deep in my mind. Like a splinter or whatever you wanna call it Wink

And to all those that rampage about it being so lousy, I have only one thing to say:
Stop being so loudly disappointed. If it it not for you, then it it not for you.

Make up your own mind.

Use Your Mind. Or someone else will.

First of all the first two made sense? AND the indefinate ending, you think the first two had definate endings?i understand though, every one wants a fairy tale ending, we want the humans to be free and trinity be found and alive, and most of all the entire move series make sense to us and we are able to undersand it. what was so bad about the movie. we fear the unkown. plain and simply every says it stinks just because they have no idea what will happen.so we become indiffernt to the story.i think people just need to stop judgeing the movie for what it could of been and notice what it is.

All I’m saying to hardcore fanboys is don’t be a victim to your own bias opinions. One thing I’ve learned from the matrix was to see beyond the control. Be your own person, question things and don’t accept something just because it is. Just because it’s a matrix product doesn’t mean that it’s always gonna be greatest thing on the planet. I know everyone is entitled to there own opinions but when people embrace something that is so blatantly disappointing it reminds me of… “People that are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it”. Get my point?

I thought I was the only one who left the theater thinking that M3 was definitely a totally different movie than the first two. I really think somebody dropped the ball and left us hanging big time. Maybe they got so bogged down weaving the story through the computer games and Anime stories that they actually forgot to end the trilogy. I really hated the fact the Neo was missing during half the movie and, no offense to anyone, but while I like to think that I am an independent woman, I did not enjoy the fact that Zion was saved by a bunch of hard as nails women because the story did not start off with women being "the one". Trinity did her job well but she supported Neo!
