Hello, don't visit this forum often, but some1 redirected me to the frontpage of MeX in thread in another forum.
It (that thread) was about why people dislike Matrix Revolutions (Rvs) but in that discussion I came to something I think I need to write down here (Main message of the triology) and it makes you feel better about the triology (it did to me ..)
The main complaint about Rvs is that it did not gave any answers, right?
(first I wanted to mail the webmaster of MeX, but at the matrix-explained.com... i got directed to the forum, so here it comes
Why did the Wachowski brothers made the triology ? Imo, because they wanted to make a statement about the society, and how we deal with that society.
Lets take a look at the original Matrix, what was it about ?
Free Your Mind
It made you think about yourself, and how you can cope with that knowledge (everyone for himself has to find who he is and what he does with his life, remembering that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything)
Matrix made you think !
Now we go to Matrix Reloaded (Rld) AND Revolutions (Rvs), but one at a time.
Rld : what was it about?
Choice is an illusion. (and a lot more)
Rld made you think about the system, the society, how it is just another form of control. In the months after Rld, people questioned the system, how we interact with eachother, etc.
(<=> think about yourself)
Rvs : what was it about?
Through love, peace can be achieved. (and a lot more)
Rvs should tell you how you can cope with the knowledge from Rld. How in the Wachowski bros' eyes we should deal with everything that surrounds you (nature, animals, OTHER humans, ...) This is IMO the statement that the bros wanted to make. This is what Rvs gives answers to
Like Matrix did give answers how to cope with yourself (Free Your Mind), Revolutions gives us AN answer (not THE answer) how to cope with this (very complex) society.
To sum up
Matrix (I)
* think about yourself, question yourself (vol.1)
* how to cope with it, how to deal with it (vol.2)
Matrix (II) (or Matrix II vol.1)
* think about the society, question the society
Matrix (III) (or Matrix II vol.2)
* how to cope with it, how to deal with it
In that respect, Rvs did 'answer' the 'questions' raised in Rld.
Greetz,
ps : Before you reply,I would like to ask this, please don't try to comment on what I say from here (in ps 2, below) but on the Idea of the post (above), Thanks.
ps 2 : I think that this has could've been done better (the films) that Rvl HAS flaws, but the things that bother people about Rvs (cheesy lines, socalled bad acting, etc. ) also go up for Rld
While the story was good on every level in the original, it was not in Rld and in Rvs (just one story in Rld and Rvs on the first level !)
And I aree on the most things said on the front page of MeX
