No, it should be a trilogy. With 4 films, not only is the chance of it being crap more, but it'd seem stupid.. I don't know..I just wouldn't have it Confused

Could we have a third option?

"Depends what Revelations is like"

Yeah I really liked the first two, but if the third doesn't cut it, would you want another?

And don't say it couldn't happen, just think George Lucas Wink

I would like to see 100 parts, but Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss said in an interview they wouldn't play in a 4th part, so I'd rather not.

I'd like alot more, but they probably shouldn't. More movies is always better for the series. Just look at Star Wars. They had their awesome trilogy, then George Lucas came and made those new atrocities. Sometimes you just gotta bow out at your peak of popularity. Thats what all the classic TV shows do. The shows that are consided the best were always popluar, even in the end. People still love Sienfeld, I love Lucy, etc. I doubt people will be raving about The Drew Carey show in five years. Instead of quiting while they were ahead, they've faded into obscurity and a Friday timeslot, even though it's still on. Do we really want the Matrix to share the same fate? No, we don't.

I reckon they should stick to the trilogy as we all know Revolutions is going to be amazing and if they try and top that... well the chances are slim that we will get a really top class film instead of a similar one to the other three. Plus, there are many films that have made a 4th movie after a trilogy and they have completley sucked.

Anyway I read recently that if there is a Matrix 4 then Keanu wouldn't be signing up as Neo and that would be rubbish! Lets face it theres only one "One"

However, having said that, how do we know Neo even survives in Revolutions?? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I will DEFINETLY watch The Matrix Revolutions. However, if Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Laurence Fishburn are out, I'm still in. The thing I most enjoyed about The Matrix Trilogy is that it really has its own, orginized world. I mean if the new hovercraft has at least a pilot and a operator, "I'm in"- Trinity. However, I would like it to have more of a plot than just running around and killing agents Laughing ! Even better, if they made a prequel trilogy instead. That way, he could show the first one in the first prequel, how Morpheus got freed from the matrix, and then how Trinity got freed. I would like that 10x better than a "Matrix Returns" or something.

I think that the idea of a prequel trilogy is cool. Has anyone seen the Animatrix?
Even though most of the episodes are pointless, the Final Flight of the Osiris gives you some background for the Matrix Reloaded and Enter the Matrix.

They should make like a seris of films or something called 'The Matrix: Chronicles'. That would be cool...

I like the Manga-FUNimation approach that the Dragonball/DBZ/DGT series took. Let the W. Bros, if they would continue they're great work, make a $#!t-load of comic books, then a group of teams of artists could animate them (with W. Bros validation and approval) and for the stories/events that would really make good movies, make a movie for it. That way several forms of media could be used and the most expensive and hard to produce forms could be reserved for the most critical events. Also, this model is quite flexible in the chronological skipping around aspect, as well allowing the W.Bros to retroactively modify the story by more frequent publication.
This way, we might eventually actually get to see a bunch of what-if fights between the characters that haven't in the 3 movies, due to time constraints or things of that sort.

I think my answer just has to be "all depends".

Arguably the first 3 films (with perhaps the Animatrix, which I have yet to see properly) form one story, complete. So often sequels are just produced which don't add or further a story that may have already been resolved in the previous film. Take the Aliens series of films. Ripley's emotional problems are resolved by the end of the 2nd film. You could end it there without too much fuss and without missing too much.

But they didn't. Instead they made #3 (which with the death of Newt et al made a mockery of of the resolution in #2) and also #4. I watched #3 but after seeing it there was no way I'd watch #4 (or #5, or #6, if they were ever made). Once again, you could say that the original story ends with #3, where Ripley dies.

But I know that #4 they have a clone of her. So what? Who cares?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is better to have a good, finite story, than to expand endlessly, rehashing the same points and ideas. I'm a big Trek fan too, but I know damn well that there hasn't been much original in the way of plots for years. For me, it'd be better to have less, but quality, instead of more and most of it dross.

Everything I've read suggests that the Brothers envisaged the current story as a trilogy, and with #3 that story will be complete. Therefore, I'm inclined to think that #4 should only be made if it's an entirely new story with different (maybe overlapping) characters, with enough originality and revelations to carry it off.
