I read the front page and imediately registered so I could reply, here are my answers to, or at least opinions on the questions raised.
The Oracle explaining Neo killing the sentinals
To be honest I found this a bit weird too, also, later in the movie, he can kill the thousands(millions?) of bomb but not the sentinals, which he killed in M2. It would look that Neo isn't really human at all, but it's constantly mentioned that he is 'only human'/'just a man'. It is a pickle, no doubt about it. But on to the rest of them:
'Take the speech of the Architect. A masterpiece of filmmaking. During months his words were dissected in matrix forums. "This is the 6th time we will destroy Zion".
Did this have ANY effect on Revolutions? None.
What would differ if Neo hadn't gone to the Architect? Not much. Smith would have spread and Neo could have gone to the machine god directly.'
How anyone could miss the point of this amazes me, but, as far as I see it, Revolutions was entirely based on the result of Neo's talk with The Architect. The purpose of the one is to go to the source, let Zion be destroyed, then he will pick 23 people to rebuild the city and the war continues again. Most people accept the program but there are some who don't(the people who are freed), while this is a tiny minority, it represents an excalating probability of disaster, i.e. if there enough Zionites, they will attack the machines and destroy them, that's the prophecy 'Once there was a man born inside the Matrix...it was he who freed the first of us(the 23 people)...The Oracle predicted his return(there has to be more one's or else there will be too many people in Zion, his purpose is to destroy the Matrix when Zion gets too big, The Oracle would know cause she created the current Matrix)' Neo didn't destroy the Matrix though, he went through the other door to save Trinity, so Zion will still be attacked, but there will be no one to rebuild it, hence 'Revolutions'. Without that speech, Revolutions would never have happened, you plank.
'Persephone says about the Merovingian: "The Merovingian was once like Neo". Months of discussions followed. Was he a former One?
Effect on Revolutions? None. But why did she say it then? Because the Merovingian LOVED her once? How trivial can it get?'
I imagine this means that he used to love her, like Neo loves Trinity, but now he just talks shit and rides other birds, its not trivial, love is important in the film, e.g. which door Neo picked, Trinity saving Neo's life and vice-versa.
'In Reloaded Councillor Hamann talks with Neo about "We need machines". In the bible Hamann betrayed his own people.
Effect on Revolutions? None.'
That was about the film as a whole, the kinda moral of the story which I don't fully understand, that was a bit explaining some of it.
'In Animatrix one whole episode ("Kid's story") is dedicated to The Kid. He was the first who could self-eject from the matrix.
Seemed important.
Effect on Revolutions? None.'
I don't see how it seemed important, I don't think he self ejected either, there was a huge cut screen between him falling and waking up on the table, alot of stuff happens between that if Neo's awakening is anything to go by.
'In Matrix Reloaded the Kid brings Neo a spoon.
Wow, a message.
Effect on Revolutions? None. It could have been a fork. [Sarcasm]'
That was an important message, like the Consellor Hammand thing, but I don't fully get it so I can't explain it to you. Neo says 'There is no spoon' just before he shoots the elevator in M1, sending him to the roof.
'The sex scene between Neo and Trinity and the rave dance?
Pointless.
The love between Neo and Trinity?
Irrelevant to Revolutions.'
The sex scene was to show their love, which was absolutely essential to Neo's choice of door in the Architect's place, which is essential for Revolutions, as I explained earlier. Also, Neo is brought back to life in the first one because of Trinity's love and the Bane fight could've turned out differently if Trinity wasn't there and she was there because she loved him.
'Niobe rides her spaceship thru hell in Revolutions. Meaningless. Just eye candy to release a computer game where you can fly thru tunnels.'
Niobe gets the spaceshi to the place, which
a) saves Link and Morpheus
b) destroys all the sentinals in the place
and she also gives her ship to Neo to fly to the Machine City and takes out a feck load of sentinals on the way. There's also a story between her and Morpheus which is only touched upon.
'Smith spreads like mad. Now there are thousands of him. Did this have any effect on Neo and their fights?
Not in Revolutions. Could have still been one Smith vs. Neo. '
Doesn't effect Neo's fight with him, but its the whole point he goes back into the Matrix, which ends the war and brings peace.
'Trinity says to Neo "6 hours ago I was ready to give anything for you".
Wow, what happened in the last 6 hours to make Trinity say that?'
Yeah, and then she says that nothings changed since then, in the last 6 hours she risked her life to save him from the Merovingian.
'The Merovingian says: "Bring me the eyes of the Oracle".
Wow, now that's a twist. Maybe Trinity has to overwhelm the Oracle.
But what happens in the movie? Trinity says "No" and the Merovingian says "OK, then not".
What was this all about then?
Moreover if you consider the Merovingian's words, that "he has survived them all" then simply coming to his club and is a bit too simple to overthrow him.'
Trinity puts a gun to his face before he reconsiders, you plank.
They only came to his club after Neo choosed the door on his left, the other one's have chosen the other door, so have had no reason to go after the merovingian.
'The machines have powerful weapons and highly advanced machinery but have to dig/ fight Zionites for 100 years and cannot get their energy from above the clouds?
Not answered.'
The war is just a sham as far as I can see, designed to keep the freed humans busy until the one comes and destroys Zion, starting over, so the freed ones don't get suspicious, they run a war against them. I imagine casualties wouldn't matter much to a machine.
'Why did the machines invent the matrix simulation at all? All they need to do is to cut a few nerves in the brain to make the bodies helpless. '
They wouldn't produce energy then, that's a complicated biological question, but the body needs stimulation to create energy, and for two, sos they could create one kick ass movie about it.
'Why are most whites the bad guys?
Not answered. '
I don't get that, are you bringing colour into it or am I mistaken, if I'm not, then who gives a shit what colour they are?
'Why do the heroes wear sunglasses and leather?
Pure gloss? Stylish bloat? '
Yes, pure gloss, it's a mental projection of your digital self, the more confident they get the cooler they look, e.g. Neo wore a fleece and 'normal' clothes, then a trenchcoat and big boots, then his 'one' outfit, they ties trenchcoat and sunglasses.
'How could Zion be destroyed and repopulated already 5 times? What happened with all the debris? An important question dealing about whether Zion is real or just another rebootable simulation.
Not answered.'
That's a decent question, perhaps Zion get's rebuilt in different places each times, in M1, Trinity says that the debris all over the real world are remains of huge cities that spanned hundreds of miles, previous Zions maybe? Or maybe when the 23 people rebuild Zion, that includes picking up/cleaning/re-using all the debris?
'Why is Trinity Trinity? What's so three-ish about her? The Wachowski said that every name was chosen very carefully. Was it? She has a side role (who hasn't?) and dies.'
I didn't quite get that either, Trinity is a Christian reference, theh movies have strong christian references, Neo=Jesus. She is the third of Morpheus, Neo and herself, though that doesn't include Link, but then again, he doesn't go into the Matrix. But you could ask that about half the characters and only the Wachowskis would know.
