but, how did the Kid self-eject then? if it wasn´t some "magical" phenomenon, how did he get his data back into his body/brain? even if I assume zion to be another matrix I do not understand that.. (by the way: why does the sentinel in revolutions FLY THROUGH the Neb and through Neo?) When Neo leaves the Matrix for the first time he needs a red pill inside his virtual body, he needs to touch the broken/melted mirror, someone of Morpheus´ crew has a telephone but Neo hasn´t any contact with that phone, maybe the mirror is the contact, but the mirror reminds me of the reprogramming Smith does with his prey, so maybe it´s also only part of tracing the "real" body.. but the phone, neo doesn´t touch it...
now think about this: i often noticed that humans see what they want to see, believe what they want to believe. i think neo (and the other zionists) just didn´t want to believe that zion is another matrix, no-one wanted that. the kid brought him the orfan´s spoon (so to say:"neo, also in this world there are spoons which might not exist.."). and the sentinel flying through neo, that´s a hole cgi-scene that certainly costs more than my laptop.. what do the wachowskys mean with that scene..? any suggestions?
i must say i really like the idea that the matrix is just a way of getting rid of humans without killing them (because they are programmed not to do so): the machines had the priority not to kill humans, but also to survive, so they had to hack around these priorities and find a solution: a prison for human minds. but then the whole case of that robot who killed "his" humans in animatrix (can´t remember its name) wouldn´t make mouch sense, would it? maybe he was a "mutation" that never happened again?
by the way: someone else noticed that trinity being on the neb speaks 3 times to neo being in the matrix? (someone counted more times? or less?)

I think with Kid, it’s helpful not to think of it in terms of transmitting data into his body or brain. His matrix avatar is merely a mental projection of his physical self and not actually an essence taken from his body that requires to be put back. Kid’s story merely shows us that it’s possible to survive death inside the matrix using only the power of the mind. For me, its another case of “mind over matrix”… just another way in which the rules of the matrix system can be “bent or broken”, that’s all.

I have to say, I don't really believe in the whole "Zion-is-just-another-matrix" theory. I think the Wachowskis deliberately made suggestions in this area for 2 reasons.. firstly, it added an extra dimension to the cliffhanger ending in Reloaded. I know a lot of people hated the abrupt nature of the ending but I mean, they really did get us thinking and coupled with the Architect's revelations, Reloaded really did sweep the rug away from under our feet. But I can't help but feel that in light of Revolutions, the Zion matrix idea seems to be somewhat of a trojan horse. This brings me to my 2nd point. The Wachowskis give a rational explanation for Neo's new-found REAL world powers which seems to rule out Zion as a matrix, but there's never anything 100%. It seems clear to me that the Wachowskis reasons for never totally confirming this are obvious.. how can you be 100% sure? In reality, the only constant we can ever say with unequivocal certainty is that we EXIST, since our senses are able to perceive a reality. The nature of that reality is however uncertain and can never be proved. If we were all just brains in jars being stimulated for the purposes of science we would be none the wiser. Ultimately, the chances of Zion being a matrix is exactly the same as the chances of our reality being a simulation (as in the reality right now as i type this message onto the matrix-explained forum!). The Zion-matrix idea ultimately provides a good plot device whilst subtly raising a classic philisophical moot point, but further than that.. I don't see anything to convince me of anything more. It would pretty much render the entire plot of the trilogy redundant if Zion turned out to be another simulation.

the human body requires sunlight - or rather UV light - in order to survive because the body uses it during the synthesis of Vitamin D. The machines overcome this problem by using UV lights in order to give the pod-bound humans the (small) required amount of UV needed to survive.

similarly plants require UV light in order to grow which is why most plants usually require sunlight, but this can similarly be substituted with artificial UV light sources.

the humans simply stole some artificial UV lamps from the power-plant during one of their "surface raids" and used them to grow fields of wheat on the surface which were shielded from the storms by tents. they drew power from the machines own power lines in order to run the UV lights.

That´s what is it all about: Evolution. (as Smith says in Matrix1).
Maybe it´s another reason for creating a matrix besides the electricity-problem:
When the Matrix was created Machines didn´t know an Emotion such as LOVE. But they wanted to understand, they wanted to understand the purpose of these unlogic things called feelings, emotions, love, and maybe develop higher intelligence.. So they made a Testing-Environment for Humans.. And after 6 ONEs machines had developed emotional intelligence: "it is done".

...that the machines used humans as a power source. It's how deadend jobs and mindless media suck out your life. So I do not debate whether or not humans + fusion can power machines. Rather, it's if you are buying into what your society tells you is true, then you have "chosen" to be in the Matrix.

It's all around you, when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes.

Why would the Zionites need to use a CD to figure out how to farm? If they were within the Matrix, then surely they would have had some reference to farming, as well as the experience of real bread.

If they have all these martial arts and weapons programs, they must have had at least one program on farming.
