I am pretty sure that they used Nokia phones. I think u can check it up by watching the scene in M1 where Neo recieves the Fed Ex package.

the phone in the original matrix movie is the Nokia 8110

nokia.fi...

nokia.se...

the original design didn't have the cover that snapped out at the click of a button, this was added later.. originally you had to slide it up & down manually.
