»the matrix did reload?«

Hello all I've been lurking here for a while and I love all the theories etc.
I do have a question that I haven't been able to grasp yet. Did the Matrix "re-set" at the end of M1. It is my belief that Neo didn't emerge as the One until he died at the end, thus the 6th version that the A.tech didn't really begin until then. I hope my question is clear enough to understand.

As far as I understand, matrix didn't reset at the end of M1, but it did get rebuilt at the end of M3.

In M2, Neo does have a choice between merging with the source and returning back to the matrix to save Trinity. He chose to go back to the matrix; hence I guess they call it Matrix-Reloaded. It may not have anything to do with resetting the matrix. Also, it is interesting to see how the M2 starts with its titles. There is an image of swirling galaxy, which kind of descends into a digit of the matrix, which in turn forms the gears of the clock in the room where trinity crashes in. To me it appeared as a metaphor to imply that Neo’s consciousness; which is very close to the vastness of the source, re-enters into the material world to step in to save Trinity. I think they might be using the word reloaded to imply something like that. Again, it is just my thought.

I also believe that Neo doesn’t become one and merges with the source until end of M3.

Reloaded is just far far cooler than having a cliched title. Here are some crummy titles they could have had to say the same thing.

Return To The Matrix
Revenge Of The Matrix
The Matrix Strikes Back

Reloaded refers to computers as well as to guns - this makes it a perfect way to name the sequel
