This is just a funny little detail I noticed while rewatching The Matrix. If you watch the final Neo vs. Smith fight, right after Neo breaks Smith's arm and then kicks him down the hallway, if you look closely in the background as Smith gets that surprised/horrified look on his face, in the upper right hand corner you can see Agent Jones throwing his arm in front of Agent Brown, as if holding him back because he knows that it's pointless (and actually dangerous!) to fight Neo.

Just thought it was kinda funny, fitting in with the whole "Agents knowing fear" motif.

What the fuck, over.

WHY do they do that? The whole hold back the other? 1st off, they are linked mentally. Always completing each other sentences. Why would they need to PHYSICALLY hold one another back if they could mentally zap the message to the other.

But anyways...

Why do you all think that Agent holds the other back when facing that detective.. Whose been SHOT... Screwy

Why do they speak to each other at all? I mean talk to one another, they have a mental link, why bother speaking?

Because Agents are the only three programs that are Agents, there is more than just a mental link through the Mainframe that forms between them. That's at least what I think.

Over time, I think Agents become more like Smith, as in they evolve, and form their own little bits of personality. Little was known about Jones and Brown, yet people have given them personalities, based on the bits of individuality they had shown within the 10 minutes they were on screen.

Jones: The fighter, the protecter.
Brown: The Brains, the observer, the questioner.

Anyway, evolving sooner or later causes new opinions. I think they "outgrow" the earpieces, not completely because they don't know what it is like without them, but just mentally thinking it becomes not enough for the relationship that Agents form.

Hence why Jones and Brown seem so close, since they are really the only two that have that Agent Relationship. Since Smith is far evolved beyond them.

But hey, that's just what I think. And I'm just a 13 year old.
