The anomaly

Ok, here is where I get most confused about the entire architect scene. To me, it seems like Neo is the result of the unbalanced equation of choice were 99% of the people accept the Matrix. When I read over the dialog between Neo and the Architect, it seems like the integral anomaly is a mistake in the Matrix...a glitch that the Architect has tried to get rid of, but can't find a way. Thus, since he can not get rid of this problem, he has found a way to control it, by allowing people to think that the One will save them through the prophecy. Here is where I get confused. Later, the Architect tells Neo that the five "Ones" before him

"were, by design, based on a similar predication - a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound attachment to the rest of your species, facilitating the function of the One. "

This leads me to believe that the entire anamoly of the One was created? How else would they have been designed to feel emotion for the human species? So, is the anomaly created by the architect or is it a result of the unbalanced equation? In the simpliest of terms, what exactly is the anomaly and how does it create the One?

Also, another part of the Architect speach that bothers me is this.

"While this answer functioned, it was obviously fundamentally flawed, thus creating the otherwise contradictory systemic anomaly, that if left unchecked might threaten the system itself. Ergo those that refused the program, while a minority, if unchecked, would constitute an escalating probablility of disaster. "

After he says "ergo, those that refused the program..." is he talking about the previous Ones or the people of Zion?

As I understand it, the way they control humans is by giving them the choice to accept or decline the Matrix. 99% accept the matrix, but there is that 1% that doesn't. Now, is that 1% supposed to represent all the people that wake up or does that 1% represent the anomalies of the One? If it represents all the people that wake up, then what exactly creates the anomaly of the One? Early in the Architect speach, the Arch says that Neos life is

"Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the Matrix. "

Does this mean that the One comes from all the parts of the unbalanced equation? As in, everytime someone chooses against the Matrix, there is a glitch or hickup in the system that it doesn't know what to do with. This glitch is eventually totaled together and for some reason is randomly downloaded into a person? Or is it simply that the unbalanced equation is totaled together over time, and cannot simply be deleted. Thus to get rid of it, the Arch loads it into someone along with the design to feel attachment to the rest of the humans? Is this what he means by designed? If this is so, then they would know who the One is and wouldn't need to use humans from Zion to find him.

It's all so confusing and I wish I could just figure it out. I am going crazy over all this. What exactly gives Neo the powers he has? What is the sum of a remaineder of an unbalanced equation that the Arch is talking about? Just exactly, what the hell is going on here? hehe Gumpred

I have been struggling with the same problem. When the architect says "by design" it changes everything. He was also so intrigued to see Neo reactions. It makes it look as if the one is a progam created by the architect.

Also the 1% that do not accept the matrix I do not constitute as the anomaly. The anomaly is that one person that has complete control over the matrix.

So that leads me to this question. Is Neo, the human in real life, the anomaly, meaning that something in him, some rare attribute makes him have control over the matrix OR is Neo just the lucky lotto winner who recieves the anomaly?

I think that Neo is the lucky guy who ended up with the anomoly. I believe this because the Architect tells him that his life is the sum of the remainder of the unbalanced equation. But that leads you to ask where does the design factor come in and why does someone randomly get the anomoly? What exactly is this sum that he is speaking about? It seems like it comes from the unperfected equation of choice. But where does the anomaly come from in this? Is it the little bits of the unbalanced equation being downloaded into someone's mind?
