[Matrix Revolutions] Bane/Smith: "I admit, it is difficult to think, encased in this rotting piece of meat. The stink of it filling every breath, a suffocating cloud you can't escape. [spits blood] Disgusting! Look at how pathetically fragile it is. Nothing this weak is meant to survive."

Neo and Smith: Connection

I had a brainstorm while thinking about the connection between Neo and Smith. We see in the Matrix movies that as Neo becomes stronger, so does Smith.
Could it be that as Smith becomes stronger, so does Neo?
I can't really speculate more as I can't think of a way to extend this question or remember anything that relates more than what we are obviously told.
Thoughts?

I think they are evolving in parrallel with each other. They both eventually reach the same goal of "super beings", for lack of a better word, in the end but the process was different for each. For example:
Smith downloads himself into Bane and then Neo Gains the ability to touch the machine mind.
Neo learns to manipulate the Matrix by flying. Smith does not gain this until the end of the movies.
It is plain that they were evenly matched half way through reloaded during the park fight and they definately have an awareness of each other.
This relationship started when they joined at the end of M1. Neither Smith or Neo understood the nature of that realationship until the very end while in the hole made in the street from their fight. Smiths reaction to it was fear and confusion. Neos reaction to it was peace and acceptance.
That relationship was one of yin and yang, dark and light, good and evil. Each representing one half of a whole - "The One". The true one that could fullfill the prophesy and truly bring and end to the stuggle between man and machine.

I dont believe this was the case at all. It was the symbiotic evolution of yin and yang. The equasion trying to balance itself out that caused each to have these abilities. It trancended the matrix into the real world and back to the source.
