Damn, your fast at updates, nice job.

I've got a couple more for you from the Official Site;

In the pictures section for Reloaded under the "City Chase" section is a photo of a licence plate

"AL887" (Not "LA887" as quoted in matrix-explained.com...)

with a teaser of a title "Do you see the significance in this number?"

But if you look closer to the right of the licence plate you can see the reflection of another which ends in "..M015". A shadow partially obscures part of the "M" and the resulting reflection looks remarkably like "ZION".

The second is in the "Freeway Chase" section and is;

MANSBRIDGE
OVERPASS
101 BW303 (in Smaller text)

The title of this is "This Name will appear somewhere in the crew list"

And sure enough "Mark W. Mansbridge" is credited with Art Direction.

Both these scenes were filmed at the Alameda Naval Base (AL?)

In The Animatrix website (http://www.intothematrix.com), there is a picture of a license plate that reads "AQ428". Above the numbers, the word "METROPOLITAN" can be read.

I'm not familiar with the names of the books in the Bible in english, but I will do some research and let you know if this is yet another bible reference.

Logos was a greek theory of the void. Logos was theorized to be a void that always existed and was nothing, it existed before the Gods.

In the book of John it is stated, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Word is the english word for Logos. So, this statement is declaring that the Greek concept of a void/logos/word before God is not true. John is stating that Logos could not exist before God, so in the beginning God was Logos.

the very last scene at the machine city turns into the gold code vision with the machine's arm and Neo on it... i just saw M3 Imax and this time it was obvious to me it looked like a Lotus...could anyone could elaborate or have seen the same thing?...when the machine god send the powerful code to kill off the virus smith, a crucifix of light appeared on Neo's chest..obvious symbol..was the lotus at the end another one to balance with that crucifix..if that was a lotus of course?

thx

In India there is a temple dedicated to the Ba'hai religion. It is very modern looking and is in the shape of a lotus. The thing about Ba'haism is that they believe all prophets of different religions are equally important since they all aim for the same truth. They believe that all religions focus worship on the same God. They chose the lotus because it is a symbol of holiness which seems to fit well into all different religions.

In other words it IS to counter-balance the crucifix seen earlier.

Bhrama the Hindu god of creation is depicted as being seated on a Lotus. Maybe the lotus symbol meant that Neo merging with the creator. The Baahaai (sorry for the spelling) concept can be applied too. But I dont think that the Brothers added that to neutralize to crucifix symbol.

The scene in M1 where Neo meets the Oracle for the first time. The room with all the children shows the movie Night Of The Lepus. It is a movie about giant rabbits terrorizing humans.
In M2 when Persephone walks into the room where the vampire and werewolf are watching a movie. Try and find out what movie they are watching.
The M1 scene of Trinity running away from the agents is supposed be taken from the movie Crow. I havent verified this.

Overall you have done a good job in updating the symbolism page. Thumbup

As well as having a major meaning in Hinduism it also has a major meaning in Buddhism. In Buddhism it is one of the eight auspicious signs and symbolises becoming purified. I should have thought of that earlier.

In the Matrix Revolutions there's a bunch of magnets on the oracle's fridge, I kept trying to see if they said anything, but the camera angle kept moving! grrrr. Did anyone notice anything?
Also, in the Matrix Reloaded, when the oracle is talking to Neo in the park, there is some graffiti that says "one," kinda lame, but meh, it's something. There's a book called TTaking the Red Pill, that has a whole chapter on symbolism an all that. (plus it's just a really great book so everyone should read it!)
And if anyone has comments or quesions about Christian symbolism i know a TON, like, literally. I'm doing a project on the similarities between the Matrix and chrstianity, so I've got it coming out of my butt!

Do you know what St. Athanasius (4th century) means when he says "god became man so that man might become god"? (He's an eastern orthodox chrisitian)

ok yeah it IS my essay for theology, but I thought I'd ask you about it because I am finding quite a few links between the importance of christ's resurrection and dual nature found in orthodoxy can be seen within revolutions.

Take this for example:

Orthodox Christians put forward the idea that the baptism of christ has a symbolic link with the justification which occurs at the passion of christ (soon to be a major Mel Gibson directed movie *groan*) The baptism is generally seen as the initial introduction to christianity and is also shown as having links with the resurrection for believers since they are said to be "dying to sin". This means the wachowskis were showing both the resurrection of christ and the introduction of new believers to christianity in the same moment with the same character in Neo's revelation scene (matrix 1)

Or in the case of revolutions:
Orthodox Christians see the dual nature of christ and his resurrection to be linked with the transfiguration. The transfiguration is, of course, the part of the gospel where Jesus shines with a divine light (or shikinah as it is called). This is where Jesus reveals his divinity and shows that although he is physical human flesh he is still divine. This divinity in physical objects is seen to be represented symbolically in such things as the ikons and the holy communion (where the wine and bread are seen as Jesus' blood and body). The importance in orthdox christianity of the resurrection is that it begins a redemption of not just the spiritual aspects of the world, but also human bodies (which are very much a part of humans) and also the world in general is seen to be redeemed by God's divinity entering the fallen world in the form of Jesus Christ.
Ok I went on a but of a rant there. The link with the matrix is firstly that Neo has a dual nature of spiritual aspect and bodily human aspect which are connected. Secondly Neo is seen to shine with a light when he is representing what appears to be the passion.

It seems almost like the movies end with the following events in the following order:

Matrix 1 - The baptism and the resurrection - at the same time!
Matrix 3 - The transfiguration and the passion - at the same time!

Sorry to anyone not interested. Religion can be pretty boring and/or crazy at the best of times and it doesn't get much more intense than this. Wink

OK, I found the number 1300 several times in the fight scene between Neo and the Smiths in Reloaded, does anyone know the significance?

It's all over the walls, but one spot that I can distinctly remember is when neo pulls the pole out of the ground, there is a brick behind him that appears to be white, pause the movie, and you wil find it says 1300, ita lso says it on the wall beihind the oracle.

Another quick thing, is that I think I found the word "one" written five times... which i thought was cool.

And, does anyone know what the Japanese (maybe Chinese?) symbols on the warming house behind the oracle say?

About Pi (=3.14...) :

Based on some Islamic scripture "The Savior" that will come
at "The End of Time" will have 313 disciples.
313 + 1 (for "The Savior" himself) = 314

Just an added observation:

'Load us up' = Lottus Up.
Is a play on words, but nontheless it caught my ear & made me wonder what 'Lottus' means since I knew it is in mythical significance.

I guess could say when the 'Load us up' ...load us all up...is kind of like all the 'gods' going in....hence the flower Lottus is UP ...the, the matrix gods are in & up, active, activated.

Any extra 'LOTTUS' descriptions & explanations would be nice, if are any.

Travelling while podless I found a baby sentinal & put it in my fishtank. It had sunglasses on but now they're off. It's in the Power of BELIEF!

A lotus is a plant. It's only got religious significance because it is often used by religions (buddhism in particular) to show purification. The lotus come from the dark earth but yet what is produced is a clean and white plant.

I love puns, plays on words. Punster (or is it "pundit?") that I am, I never caught that one! D-oh! Ahem, you stole my candies Very interesting!

The 7 Hindu chakras are visualized as lotuses. When "clean," and properly functioning, they are said to be opened up. Most of them are visualized with petals facing upward.

The Thomas Christians in India (or simply Indian Christianity) have as their "logo" a cross rising from a lotus flower. See pic on this ely.anglican.org.... Notice also the lotus of this Persian Thomas cross: matrix-explained.com... They call themselves Thomas Christians because they count the Apostle Thomas to be the founder of Indian Christianity. "Thomas"... I've heard of that name before.... in some cool film that blew my mind... hmmmm.... Cool
