How about this: Animatrix 2?

I think the idea of having a Matrix 4 is a terrible idea...it will wind up being like all those other series (Land Before Time comes to mind) where they should have stopped but they didn't...I mean, if the Watch brothers/siblings/whatever could come up with some interesting, NEW ideas it would be okay, but I doubt it. And if it sucked, it would be an embarassment to Matrix fans Neutral

But what I think would be cool is if they did another Animatrix type thing with shorts. Some things I would like to see are:

- what Neo was doing before the start of Matrix 1 (I've always been curious about his hacking days, etc)
- the fates of the other Ones
- more about Seraph
- how Tank died (they left that COMPLETELY unexplained)
- ?

Anyone have anymore ideas?

Jesus life as a child and his puberty are unknown. So I guess Neo's life will stay unknown, too.

Any stories about Neo just hacking on a computer would have to have something really special about them. I can't think of anything more boring than watching someone hacking. Even the scene in the "kid's story" anime was kinda dull when he was just typing all that crap on the internet. "why do i feel more awake when i'm dreaming" - for goodness sake.

The reason Tank died was because the actor asked for more money. But if we could have an anime about the death of the character in a high speed chase with setinels or something that could make a damn cool anime!

As for stories about the other ones or about Seraph that could be really cool. Persephone said "he was so different" about the Meravingion who calls Seraph a "Judas". But if they do prequel animes I would like to see them make them a bit more interesting than that stupid Second Renaissance anime. Be a bit lighter on the narration please, it bores me to tears.

I've checked up on the peeps who did the original animes. Andy Jones who did "final flight..." was obviously an animation director for Final Fantasy.
Shinchiro Watanabe (kid's story, detective story) is the director of Cowboy Bebop. Takeshi Kioke (world record) was the lead animator for the movie Ninja Scroll. Yoshiaki Kawajiri (program) is the director of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the X tv series. Koji Morimoto (Beyond) was the assistant animation director for Akira.

That leaves Peter Chung (matriculated) whose most important credit seems to be the opening sequence for Rugrats, and Mahiro Maeda (the second renaissance) who does not seem to have done anything well-known at all.

I don't suppose bringing in Mamoru Oshii's group of animators who made Blood or Studio Ghibli would be possible for animatrix 2? Probably not.

Fatpie, Second Renaissance history was vital, i suppose some could say learning history in general is boring, but if you didn't know of anything of the past, don't you think it'd be a little easier to miss things? I've seen several posts that are incorrect because they haven't seen The Second Renaissance.

As for pre-savior Neo - Admin handled that one.

Other ones? I don't see the point, because it would be an animated Matrix Trilogy.

Would enjoy to see a little bit more about Seraph, could put some heated debates to rest for good.

Honestly, i'd like to see the purpose of Sati.

And of course, the Third Renaissance, rebuilding and advancement of Zion, along with the continuation of the freeing of minds, which ultimately would lead us right back to where we started.

Everything that has a beginning, has an end.

I agree. I really never wanted a Matrix 4 but I never even thought of an Animatrix 2. I would rather it be computer animated and hopefully under raps like the first one. I want it to be kept to the true Matrix fans. As for Tanks death, the reason it was unexplained is known, but it wouldn't be bad to make up something for the Animatrix. The Kid in Reloaded was a total mystery to me untill I watched the Animatrix. Both parts of The Renaissance were not necessary but helpful. I would like the story of a previous One, some stories we didn't see in the Revolutions, similar to the clips in Enter the Matrix, and also a story picking up where Revolutions left off. I would love it for all of them to be in at least the quality of the Last Flight of the Osiris. I wouldn't be surprised if they did this, but unfortunately, I doubt they will. Even a book would be nice explaining EVERYTHING in detail.

The Matrix has you...

I think it would be cool if there could be an official and an unofficial animatrix collection. The maker of Beyond had many ideas for animes which kept being turned down and I'd like to see what he would do if the producers were kept off his back.

How about a series (animated) about one of the anime shorts. I thought that the detective storyline could have been continued...Maybe he survived, maybe his obssesion with finding out about the matrix.

Or perhaps create a new series. One based on the adventures of Morpheus before Neo.

It seems to grand a canvas to have stopped painting already....

To see Tank's story is pretty unlikely, since he sued the brothers and the studios. You can read all about it here

boycottthematrix.com...

So they probably won't be able to make a story about him. I mean, they won't be able to use his voice and his likeness for the animations.

I just think he was asking too much. If I were him, I'd even do it for free, just for the chance to be in "The Matrix"! Nono

Like I said in MatrixTheories, I want ...

Second Renaissance pt3: Explaining more about the first 2 failed Matrices

ZeroNeo: Before Morpheus found Neo, how did he found him and stuff

the Peace: After Revolutions, before Online, telling us why do they need to fight again. If they added this to animatrix2, more people would buy Online because they would have seen the animatrix and ... you know. I'm sure that Morpheus joined Niobe to form one crew.

The purpose of life is to end...

I agree with those who want a third renaissance. It would be nice to see them fixing the sky, sorting out their differences and generally making things right. Potentially there could be a machine civil war, but so long as it all works out well in the end, with the damage being undone, then i am happy. It would be a nice touch to keep with the religious imagery and language. Bringing back the sun would be nice indeed as a cinematic sequence.

Let there be light. Shocked

I personally think the matrix trilogy is not finished, and if the bros say it is, then we got gypped. When reloaded came out, they stated that reloaded and revolutions were one movie that was too long so they cut it into two (just like kill bill). That would explain why they came so quickly after each other. That means we've seen matrix 1, matrix 2(reloaded, revolutions), and i'm still waitin for matrix 3. Another animatrix would be kickass tho, although i don't see a "third renaissance" happening, bcos human nature dictates that the zionites will NEVER trust the machines.

i would like to see seraph and the merovingians connection explained

i would like to see seraph-smith connection explained

i would like to know what happened to the merovingian after revolutions

i would like to know why persephone continually undermined the merovingian

i would like to know excactly what it was that the oracle took from the merovingian

i would most definitely like to see the full explanation of satis importance to the future of the matrix saga(seeing as the matrix online is set after revolutions then this may be explained)

i would like to see an animatrix about "the collectors" that are shown on the official site comic section

i would like to see an animatrix dedicated solely to the collapse of the first matrix and for it to show this "perfect world"

i would like an animatrix to show some of the things that neo noticed was wrong with the world during his life before he was freed

A MAJOR,FULL ON BRONSON

the "perfect world" was the garden of Eden, and the second matrix that failed i presume was the whole Sodom and Gommorah thing. Yeah, i'm pretty sure the failed matrices were civilizations that fell, or some stuff like that. who know? the last matrix that failed might have been the Napoleonic Empire, or maybe the Nazi not-so-empire.

Some good ideas there. I definately think there is scope for a series based around Seraph's character. Perhaps it could start with the oracle freeing Seraph from his position as a servant of the meravingion and then go on to show the ways he serves the oracle. He could fight various minions of the maravingion (endless scope for interesting characters there!), agents (Smith in particular would feature a great deal) and he could help previous ones.

I think Smiths taking over of the oracle shows that the oracle has a lot more power than she leads us to believe. When Smith becomes the oracle just one of his incarnations is able to be quite a match for Neo. The oracle's powers even seem to allow him to fly! I think we should on a few occaisions see the oracle using some of her hidden powers. An old lady can do much more interesting things in an animated series.

I heard that the next Matrices are going to be about Morpheus's story, how he was freed, his search for the one etc. and the Wachowski's themselves said they wanted to continue the Matrix through comics or novels, so I presume they will answer the Seraph-Merovingian question and possibly go further with the Oracle-Smith question. Other possible shorts/movies are Trinity's freeing, as was said, the first two fauked Matrices, previous One's, though that could be just the same as Neo's without the Revolutions stuff, the war before Neo arrived, a very short one on Thomas A. Anderson's life.

I agree with logjaamx (who wrote oh, so long ago). I don't see the reasoning being calling it a trilogy when the M2 and M3 are obviously one story. A trilogy is by right, three related but seperate stories. I call it the Matrix duology, and I am satisfied with how it ends. I don't think the series could rightfully continue. If it did, the Bros. would have to pull off some heavy shit, and they very well could. I couldn't see how the Matrix could be topped without becoming too formulaic, but they pulled off a fine sequal that I don't think could be topped (and this is my opinion and not a fact) I just hope they stop furthering the story with games (I don't have the time to Enter the Matrix or MXOL), and go back to animation or comics.

As far as Peter Chung's animation credits, he did a lot more than just shitty cartoon openings. He was the creator behind the whole Aeon Flux animation that was on MTV's Liquid Television and later made into a TV series. What a mindblowing story. Check it out if you haven't seen it, you can get it on videotape or DVD. If you watch Aeon Flux you can start to understand the concept behind Matriculated.

There's only one um, and that's fuck 'um.

I read novels in there... I would love to see some Matrix novels so we can get into the heads of the Frenchman, Seraph, etc. Hey, if they're telling the story in several mediums, they've gotta have a book! *big pleading eyes*

Also, an Animatrix 2 or even a prequel movie about Morpheus would rock.

Kids! Bringing about Armageddon can be dangerous. Do not attempt it in your home.

Agree like others: Animatrix II would kick ass up and down! I don't even care if the stories take place before the trilogy or during the trilogy. Personally I would want to see how Zion was built, in a style similar to the Second Renaissance.[/url]

THE ANIMATRIX 2 CONCEPT REMINDS ME OF THE ANIMATRIX UNPLUGGED FORUM BY ME, MINUS THE POSITIVE COMMENTS BY THE LOCAL MATRIX COMMUNITY? HOWEVER, I DO AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS POSTERS WITH ONE EXCEPTION, I WOULD LIKE THE BROS AND THE ARTISTS TO ORGANIZE THE COMICS ON THE MAIN MATIRX SITE INTO ANIME SHORTS.

I agree about the novel...what a wonderful idea. Thumbup

As far as Animatrix 2, Super! Studio Ghibli would be GREAT for it Confused and ignorant

I would like to see a short on that kid that followed Neo around in Zion, what was his name? Im at a loss....the one that carried suitcases for Link and gave Neo the orphan's spoon later....His story would be good.

Also, like the others, I'd like to see Merv and Persephone, but I'd like to see why/how/when they first came to Club Hel and what went on...What's up Persephone's butt and how was Merv different, that kind of thing...

Im also curious about Morpheus and the Oracle's history together. Has she been guiding him about who to free? What all is involved in the whole tracking process might be interesting too.

And don't forget the whole Niobe/Morpheus thing. What went wrong is what I'd like to know.

Maybe even a short with a training camp for new Agents or even Smiths...

I can't help thinking a #2 as far as Kid's Story might be a nice short in an Animatrix 2. Was he the new 'One' or what happened after....

Just thoughts....

You cannot see the tunnel, but you know you must go through it.
