cheeky_girl5748, I think your spot on here. I believe this to be the best explaination of the character Seraph so far. I don't know why but Seraph is my favourite character from the Matrix saga and has been ever since his introduction in the Tea House. I would like to add some more points I have thought of:
Seraph is almost perfect, like you said from the first version of the Matrix and is almost if not the same level a fighter as Neo. From Revolutions, we see that Seraph has beaten Smith time and time again and only Neo can also beat Smith (End of Matrix 1, Burly Brawl, End Of Matrix 3 etc) so we must assume that Seraph was/is one of the most powerful programs in the machine world before he was exiled.
The seraphim are God's chosen high angles are the commanders of armies of angels and hold the most responsability apart from God so maybe Seraph was second in command to The Architect, The Oracle etc?
When Morpheus, Trinity and Seraph approache the main doors of Club Hel, the bouncers recognize Seraph immediately and call him "Wingless." Inside the club, the Merovingian calls Seraph "L'ange sans ailes" (Wingless Angel). I didn't notice this the first time, but after watching it the second time I know what this means. In biblical texts, some angels had their wings clipped for doing something really wrong in Heaven and were cast out of heaven. Lucifer had this happen to him as well but he became the Devil (ie the Merv.) Seraph, too, must be some kind of exile from the machine city, like you said from the first version of the Matrix. Seraph is also referred to by the Merv. as "My Little Judas" and Judas was the apostle who betrayed Jesus to the Romans and then hung himself. Maybe Seraph betrayed someone important in the Machine City and now has been exiled to protect the Oracle as punishment?
I liked your post, it made me look at Seraph more deeply, what are your thoughts?
Ras.
