i noticed...in M1, the Oracle notices how Neo's not so bright.

in M2, Smith tells him "Still using all the muscles except the one that counts."

in M3, when his final fight with Smith was confined to the ground and Kung-Fu, he won every round. when they took to the air, he lost every round. then, he lost a round so badly he got pummeled in a ground fight.

WTF was he thinking? dumb, dumb, dumb...should have kept it on the ground where he was in control.

He was a member of Wyld Stallyon, which helps explain it.

It is purpose that created us... connects us... pulls us... guides us... drives us...

lol, at the cinema while watching Revolutions I thought "is he dumb or something?" about Neo too. when Smith was in Bane's [or whatever his name was] body and on the ship started calling Neo "mr.Anderson" it took Neo a lot of time to find out who he was. like, uh, who could it be? did he forget who was the one to call him "mr.Anderson"?

there is no spoon

not to mention his stupid questions:
"are you the Oracle?" [was there any other woman in that room?]
"are you the Keymaker?" [who could it be - making a key, in the room full of keys?]

Dumb Neo?

Neo needed to know only what he needed to know. The reason it took him so long to answer Smith in Bane's body is because he failed to believe it. Similar to how he was when he was first introduced to the matrix in the first film.

As to why he wouldn't keep it on the ground. I'm not so sure i remember him actually being the first one taking it up into the air. I may be wrong, but i dont think so.

As for asking if the Oracle and Keymaker are who they are? Just a means of making sure. For all he knows, they could have been different programs, i think of it more as thinking out loud.

So the next time you approach someone in a store for help, and they ask you, can i help you? are you going to call them stupid? hehe. Obviously if you are approaching them they can. But we don't call them stupid, do we? Hehe, although to see a sales persons face after that would be priceless.

Everything that has a beginning, has an end.

This was in direct reference to the fact he did not know Trinity was in Love with him yet, not that he was "not too bright" intellectually. If she did not have confidence in his intelligence and he'd make the right choice etc why would she say "you've made a believer out of me?"

In the case of Bane. Yes it took Neo a while to realise that it was Smith, but imagine how inconceivable that must be. A machine inside a human's mind. It's easy for us to say as we saw Smith copy himself onto Bane and then answer his call. And then there is the doubt that if you understand what you don't understand how

Still, though. Who called him Mr. Anderson? In the entire series, I can think of only two (Well, three, techniquely) people:

His boss
Smith/Bane.

It's obvious that in Zion, they prefer to call eachother by their birthnames (If they were a child of the real world) or by their "hacker" aliases (If they were born from the Matrix.) Though, it's true he should've had some doubt about who Bane was, it was a painfully long time before it hit him...

Neo saw Smith copy himself onto Bane...which is how we saw it. one of Neo's visions...

If that is the case then he would have known already that Smith was inside Bane, or that something was wrong. I'm saying his vision wasa either partial, or he felt something was wrong but couldn't actually see what was happening

Smith HATES Neo. He was insulting him, not stating the obvious. That's the humans' job! 8)

That doesn't necessarily mean that Neo is DUMB. Intellegence has nothing to do with fighting.

The merovingian is tricky. He could have used decoys or something for the keymaker. And Neo was nervous when he first met the Oracle. He thought she was this all knowing kind of God, or something.

Quote:

Oracle: Not quite what you were expecting, was it?

So, when he said "are you the oracle?" it was out of surprise and relief of tension that he felt when he first entered and saw all of these kinds of special children and minions and such.

Quote:

That couldn't be, because he would have NEVER have shaken AGENT SMITH'S hand! And you notice that the brothers didn't show Neo waking UP either.

But you see, in the director-sense, this builds tension! Weren't you tense when you saw this? I personally was like, "Oh God, don't kill Trinity! Go kick is ass, Neo!" That long, drawn out-ness added to the tension, and it really made the "battle" better.

That is because once Smith entered the real world, Neo was awakened by the presence of the Smith. It wasn't a vision, they were just showing us that Neo felt something when Smith got out of the Matrix.

I see what you are saying, but what is more likely? If Neo had seen what we saw, he would have known who Bane really was in the first place

IT'S CALLED CHANGING SCENES. Besides, for the Trinity-dream, they kept flashing back, but in the so called "smith dream," the W. Brothers never referred to it again (no flash-backs), and when Bane fought with Smith in Revolutions, he had no IDEA for a long time. Thus this conversation has relapsed.

Here is proof from the movie:

Quote:

Bane: I should've known he'd sent his bitch first.
Trinity: Bane?
Bane: No one ever got away from me as many times as you did. Every single time I thought it was the last. Every time I was sure we had you, but somehow you'd slip through our fingers. I really can't express just how aggravating that can be.
Trinity: What are you talking about?
Bane: I think I might enjoy killing you as much as killing him.

Trinity: Neo! It's Bane, he's psychotic!
Bane: You're gonna pay for that.

-----LATER------
Bane: Mr. Anderson. I see you're as predictable in this world as you are in the other.
Neo: What?
Trinity: He's out of his mind.
Bane: It might appear that way to you, but Mr. Anderson and I know that appearances can be deceiving. Confused, Mr. Anderson? It'll all become clear in a moment. Now, thank you for bringing me the gun. You can set it down right there.
Trinity: Don't do it. Shoot. Shoot now.
Bane: Yes, shoot, fry us, burn us alive!
Trinity: Shoot, Neo. If you don't, he'll kill us both.
Bane: Look at him. He knows he should do it but he won't. He can't.
Trinity: Do it.
{Neo puts the gun down}
Bane: Back away from the gun and turn around.
Neo: Let her go.

Bane: Somehow familiar, isn't it?. We've been here before, you and I. Remember? I do. I think of nothing else.
Neo: Who are you?
Bane: Still don't recognize me? I admit, it is difficult to think, encased in this rotting piece of meat. The stink of it filling every breath, a suffocating cloud you can't escape. *spits blood* Disgusting! Look at how pathetically fragile it is. Nothing this weak is meant to survive.

Neo: What do you want?
Bane: I want what you want.
{Neo looks up with recognition in his eyes}
Bane: Yes... That's it, Mr. Anderson. Look past the flesh, look through the soft gelatin of these dull cow eyes and see your enemy.
Neo: No.
Bane: Oh yes, Mr. Anderson.
Neo: It can't be.
Bane: There's nowhere I can't go, there's nowhere I won't find you.
Neo: It's impossible.
Bane: Not impossible. Inevitable. Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.

Trinity: This is it, it's gotta be. {She pushes a circuit breaker, the lights go out}

{Bane/Neo fight}

Neo: *screams*
Trinity: Oh, no.

Bane: I wish you could see yourself, Mr. Anderson. The blind messiah. You're a symbol for all of your kind, Mr. Anderson. Helpless, pathetic. Just waiting to be put out of your misery.
Neo: I can see you.
Bane: It's not over, Mr. Anderson. It's not over.

Neo: Trinity!
Trinity: Neo. Oh no. Your eyes.
Neo: I'll be okay. It's all right, Trin. But I think you're gonna have to drive.

Now, do you REALLY think that Neo would play dumb and pretend to not know about Bane in this situation? That wouldn't save Trinity. That wouldn't help him. That wouldn't even have saved his eyes! So WHY would he do it? Fate would be inevidable ANYWAY. So that answer is...Neo is smarter than that, and he WOULDN'T. SO HE DIDN'T KNOW. And if he did, WHY WOULD HE SHAKE BANE/SMITH'S HAND?

Quote:

Maybe. I mean, he WAS just starting to feel stuff. Probably more likely than Neo KNOWING about Bane.

Of cource he didnt know! It wasn't Neo's dream, didnt he wake up because of dreaming about Trin? On the game where you see the scene of SMith taking over Bane, Neo doesn't wake up (haha... i just wrote wank).
Neo didnt see it... hence why he didn't know Bane was Smith.

so, first your proof was "he didn't wake up" but now we see that they did show him waking up, and now it means nothing? how convenient for you.

no, i don't think he was playing dumb. in all three movies, he's painfully slow in all of his realizations. nobody said the savior of all mankind had to be smart.

That still doesn't explain why he shook Bane's hand.

And it didn't go away. I honestly think that it's much more likely for him IN THAT SCENE to about the TRINITY DREAM than the so called Bane dream. Otherwise, what would the whole "Trinity, I can't loose you." thing be about? It was obviously eating him up that he kept seeing Trinity die. That's why he woke up. Not because of Bane.

That's because she's sleeping, remember? Didn't we see that in the movie? If not, then that would still be it. And also, it's kind of painful to talk to a loved one and tell them that you think that they're going to die any time they go into the Matrix. He doesn't want to believe it. Remember?
The Oracle: What happens when you go through the door?

Quote:

Neo: I see Trinity, and something happens, something bad. She starts to fall, and then I wake up.
The Oracle: Do you see her die?
Neo: No.
The Oracle: You have the sight now, Neo. You are looking at the world without time.
Neo: Then why can't I see what happens to her?
The Oracle: We can never see past the choices we don't understand.
Neo: Are you saying I have to choose whether Trinity lives or dies?
The Oracle: No. You've already made the choice, now you have to understand it.
Neo: No, I can't do that. I won't.
The Oracle: You have to.
Neo: Why?
The Oracle: Because you're The One.

It's kind of hard to explain what your feeling when your in denial. Razz

nah...i think Neo's just too dumb to wrap his brain around what his visions are telling him.

heh. couldn't have picked a better character attribute for Keanu Reeves to bring to the forefront.
