I did a search using "The matrix"+lawsuit on alltheweb.com... and came up with some other interesting news.

Tank vs The Brothers
The article at zap2it.com... claims that the actor who played "Tank" was suing the brothers for not casting him in the sequels -- a daft lawsuit if I've ever heard of one.
The article is reasonably old (20th May 2003) so does anyone have an update?

I already wrote it
The page at threemoviebuffs.com... has one of the reviewers claiming to have thought of "essentially the exact same plot as The Matrix" some years ago (yeah, sure)!

Big Brother
An article at nyclu.org... reports on a NYC Police database referred to as "The Matrix" and how it may infringe upon civil liberties.
