Why is Matrix Reloaded called Matrix Reloaded

Anybody who has an idea why 'Matrix Reloaded' is called 'Matrix Reloaded' can post here!!

*because it's the sequel
*because the cycle is about to start again (Neo has to choose 23 people)
*because the Matrix will reboot
*because Zion is within a Matrix (thus Zion is the outer Matrix, while the Matrix is a reloaded one)

The forum user wrote:
*The name of the movie could be "reloaded" for several reasons. First off, Reloaded brings Neo to the Architect, where Neo is supposed to go to the source where the matrix can be reloaded with the proper changes.
*Also, the idea that they have to go back into the matrix after Neo defeats the Agents and comes back to life is a reloaded idea.

*because it's a better movie now (e.g. 'Twin peaks reloaded' -> 'Twin Peaks updated/refreshed etc...')

I think it's better that they stuck with an actual word for the title, instead of making one up like you did.

What the fuck, over.

I totaly agree. I mean, come on, man! What would they call the last one then? Matrix Revolussions?

To be honest, the friend that follows the matrix with me, and myself, thought reloaded was to signify reloading a gun...like you fired off your first rounds (M1) and know its time for a whole new fight (M2).

I guess Matrix Revolutions throws that though...

no finalhope... I agree with you. I think they wanted to have a title with several meanings. The movie has alot of shoot-em-up action. So reloaded means that the action starts again. Plus, if there is a "reload" to the matrix, though we don't know yet, it could have that meaning. And besides, as a sequel... reloaded just fits.

Revolutions probably has many meanings as well. There is going to be a big change (or "revolution"). Maybe it will end with another cycle of the matrix being started (it made a full revolution). Plus, Revelations is the last book of the Bible, so it signifies the ending. I'm not sure about those last two... they seem to contradict each other. Maybe the Wachowskis don't want us to be able to figure out the ending so they left it ambiguous.

'cause, maybe "Matrix 2" is just plain unoriginal?

I remember the big hooha that was made when the 2nd GhostBusters film came out -- no way they were going to call it "Ghostbusters II" were thery (and look what happened)!

Presumerably any further films after Revolutions will follow the "Star Trek" pattern as currently established. You know, like...

The Matrix:What the Kid did next
The Matrix:Other Stuff we never Told You
The Matrix:Neo vs Predator (hey, after Freddy vs Jason, anything's possible)

*because it's the sequel - That's the most obvious reason!

*because the cycle is about to start again (Neo has to choose 23 people) - The only problem is that hasn't yet happened. If this were the raeson it would make more the to call it The Matrix MIGHT BE RELOADED. I think the Matrix is being reloaded with Neo himself. They call him a New One. Now that they know about him, it is now a matrix reloaded.

*because the Matrix will reboot - If so, what information would be lost during the reboot? What would be analagous to a PC's RAM? Would this mean that all the humans in the matrix would die like the Architect said could happen? Hmm. Like before, the only problem is it hasn't happened yet so it would be too soon to use that title.

*because Zion is within a Matrix (thus Zion is the outer Matrix, while the Matrix is a reloaded one) - I have no doubt that Zion is within some kind of higher construct, and that there are an infinite number of levels, even in real life. Personally I think that Zion is real for the puposes of the movie plot.

So it's my opinion that Neo himself is what is reloaded into the Matrix. The AI needs Neo's to maintain the understanding of human beings and thus maintain their control.

Neo-One

the reason i think it called "reloaded" is because Neo must go back into the Matrix Cool simple thought!

(Re: Why is Matrix Reloaded called Matrix Reloaded)
I had been thinking about this recently and now interestingly here is the very question being brought to the forefront of this forum, having been asked more than 2 years ago!

I had previously thought that Reloaded most likely referred to the whole process that had been continually repeating as explained by the Architect. But that isn’t really that significant is it? Nor is it what happens this time round.

No, having given more serious thought and attention to what is happening I think different.

I think more like others have mentioned already in this thread that the Matrix is being Reloaded primarily with Neo and what His Path contains rather than the calculated and controlled balance induced by the Architect previously.

The film starts with the Code (as in Revolutions) finishing up with a Clock that strikes Midnight, that Morpheus explained shrouded in mystery (Key-Makers purpose & "the reason we are all here"), is the time they would strike.

It is at this moment that Trinity enters the Matrix with explosive presence.

This is the turning point from the repetition of the "other One’s" who allowed dissemination of the code, causing everything to go flat (like a bomb diffused).

With all the meaning surrounding Trinity, both in the dynamics of Neo’s Dream and the Providence it represents makes this "Moment of Truth" more likely to be what is meant by the title:

The Matrix Reloaded

And is counter-parted and further explained by the succeeding Revolutions.

To put it simply:

The Matrix is Loaded with all the Mystery and Dynamics Iterated in the Anomalous Code like a Bomb that had been waiting to go off.

Also why is the third movie called 'The Matrix Revolutions'?

I think because there is really a revolution that happens at the end of the movie.

The matrix is no longer a prison, it doesn't enslave people and programs. It is something new. Architect promises to let everyone who wants to leave out.

Some people will leave.
Some programs will leave.

Some people will enter it, cause they are bored of Zion.
Some programs will enter it, to continue their life there than get deleted.

For the first time the matrix looks like something good. It doesn't enslave, it enables human / AI beings.

And that's a Revolution, isn't it?

Reloaded insinuates that it's been loaded before, or even re-loaded before. To me, that speaks quite clearly of the cycles, which is what we learn about in that movie. We learn about what is expected of the One by the Architect.

In Revolutions, we see Neo making his own path and making deals with the Deus. A revolution is a change in how things operate, and at the end of M3, that is exactly the case.

That being said, I still enjoyed your post Inev. I had never thought about Reloaded actually starting with the point where the traditional reload was about to be rejected. Trinity is the reason for the rejection of the Reload, and she is the first one we see. Great observation!
