Clearly, huh? There's a small % out there who really relate to Agent Smith. (I can tell since there's so many Smith related s/n's here, haha!) But in Revolutions you can really see Weaving portray the character excellenty, and actually see Agent Smith totally take it ta' Neo.

I'm sure most of the Smith fans (and Neo fans I suppose) really be on the edge of their seats during that final battle in the rain, that was just simply top-notch and my hats off to the Brothers for that vigente. Kinda' sad really, to see Smith at his peek (thinking he's defeated Neo) and then it all comes crashing down, that REALLY annoyed me, lol.

weaving was a great smith. but also, i think that the actor who played bane was great at taking on the smith persona as well.

NEO?! You scared the bejeezus out of me.

Weavining played brilliantly, but the actor who played Bane also did a great job! He could speak with the exact same intonation we see in Smith himself and that was great...

But no actor played better, IMHO, than the one who played The Merovingian.

smith and merovingian were easily my two fave characters. i actually grew such a liking for smith that i wanted him to win the end battle and for there to be some sort of stroyline that allows him to completely take over the matrix. shame the ending was too predictable though.

Now Agent Smith... Cool My Thoughts...
I have seen many films in my time and I have never loved a character as much I love Agent Smith.
OK, so he was the bad guy, but I felt sympathy for him, especially at the end of the trilogy, he was confused because of his loss of purpose, and he believed that the purpose of all life was to die; which in his unique way of looking at things was right...We are all born to die, but it's how you live your life before the inevitable happens that matters...
He made the wrong choices and he paid for them big time.
He wanted to save his world, just as Neo wanted to save Zion. He was the negative aspect of Neo's positive...He was in essence Neo's equal and opposing force.
Hugo Weaving has been a favourite actor of mine for quite some time.
He really surpassed himself in his portrayal of Agent Smith, there could have been no other who could have carried off the part to perfection...It's going to take me a hell of a long time to get Agent Smith out of my system....HE'S JUST SIMPLY A STAR
Thankyou to Hugo Weaving, for giving the character LIFE.
I absolutely adore a bad guy with a wicked sense of humour, it's the reason why I fell for him BIG TIME.

I will remember him for times and times to come... Cool

Of course it mean't something, we are all here, from distant parts of the world, at different time hours, to hear what the guy or gal behind the end of the line has to say.
Everything here is valuable... even that Mirra crap which obviously has a purpose... and that is to remind us all of the lame and absurd a human being can get. I mean, isn't him anoying?
Anyways, what makes us special is that we don't buy that stuff, we are rational beings... freedom of choice JA Thumbup Whitelaugh

i hope hugo weaving's career will not be as jason alexander's. you know who he is, george costanza. when i see his face i start laughing and wait to see him saying "that's it!".

hugo is kind of lucky, because he acted as elrond during matrix. good call for him.

I wouldn't say he was lucky, he's a damn good actor and has won awards for some of the roles he has played.... You should try to get a hold of some of his films.... Cool

remember how hugo said "welcome to rivendell frodo baggins" in the fellowship of the ring. most people thought he'd say "welcome to rivendell mr. anderson" instead.

but nobody said "not good", and all accepted.

that's my point by mentioning "luck". also, he is clever because he choosed "elrond" not any other role. elrond is not agent smith i know, but he could have chosen a stupid role in a stupid movie.

I agree that Hugo Weaving rules as Smith.

I also agree that Mirra is really pushing his luck.

I think that bashing Mirra, is almost as silly and time-wasting as Mirra bashing back. Please choose to stop this nonsensical, purposeless "I hate you because I don't agree with you" battle.

When you strike a mirra, who are you hitting?
Better to gaze through the looking glass, than to hate the surface.

Anyway, the "cookie scene" was one of my favorites. Hugo had me cracking up the whole time he was on screen.
I love when Neo re-enters the Matrix at the end, and the one Smith is just nodding like, "Oh, yeah, time to kick some ass!"

HUGO WEAVING, HUGO WEAVING, HUGO WEAVING! I remember going to his sister in laws house when I was little, we where looking at Christmas photos & everyone was pointing at him saying he was an actor & I had no idea who he was. After seeing Interview I fell in love with him. Of all my favourite films, hes nearly in all of them. Proof was fantastic, Interview was bloody fantastic, Ned Kelly was pretty poor but he was fantastic in it, reminded me of Smith the whole way through, I wanna see Priscilla but I havn't bothered getting it out.

After seeing the Matrix, I was astounded that he was in it, & he was so bloody GOOD. HE WAS PERFECT! Next time I goto Queensland I might get to meet him, but my mum said after talking to his sister inlaw that hes in Florence ( I dont wanna say to much.) WHY! WHY CAN I MEET THIS PERFECT ACTOR? IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE!

Well..... here I am.

I don't know why this thread was bumped but I'll post anyway. I never knew who Hugo Weaving was before I saw Matrix 1. I may have seen movies with him, but none I can recall. I loved him in the Matrix and then he got better from film to film. He is by far the best actor in the trilogy. I saw him in the LOTR as well, but he's just not cool with long hair. Nono
