Neo survives Machine City...

in my quest to furthur empower the readers of this forum with "why", i give you a logical breakdown of Neo's safe passage right before meeting the Machine Lord.

first, let me state that i don't disagree with anyone's reasoning on the machines sending Neo in to delete Smith.

the machines don't care what goes on in the matrix - as long as their energy is stable. it is the architect program that cares if the matrix program is unbalanced (though he would rather that it be balanced without the anamoly). even if all the matrix population were agents - it would still be balanced since the anamoly (who is still human) exists.

now if smith didn't get all cocky and prove that he can transfer out of the matrix into bane, the machines wouldn't have taken notice. however, smith's action posed a serious threat to the machine's energy supply. not something you want to do human or program. case in point: they sent a fucking army down to an underground city because the inhabitants were a "probable" cause for energy system destabilization.

smith's replication, which started out as a controlled, systematic solution to solve for the anamoly, has turned into an out of control route to energy destabilization and this time it's not probable - its inevitable.

that is why the sent him in. more importantly, that is also why they didn't imediately kill him just for being there.

the machines asking neo if he would fail clearly shows that machines will forever be unable to comprehend the equation that is the anamoly - the closesst they can come is to just concede (as the oracle has) that it is the required positive to the negative that acheives balance.

1. There is no indication that the machines now about Smith taking over Bane.

2. They wouldn't care about that either; no matter how many human bodies Smith takes over, he's still no threat to them.

The one and only reason the movie presents for the machines needing Neo is "Soon [Smith] will spread through this city as he spread through the Matrix," which cannot be true given the facts.

Furthermore, even if we assume that they need a human, there's no reason it has to be Neo.

I just posted this somewhere else (another forum). Perhaps the matrix is a lab, ruled by the program Architect, created to develope a new life form. Send me your thinking about this. 3Tooth [/url]

Given all the arguements for Neo/Smith being two sides of the same coin. Look at the power Neo has aquired in the 'real' world and tell me the machines would not think thousands of people 'infected' with Smith to be a threat. Given time would Bane(empowered by smith) have learnt to use the same sort of power Neo had in the real world?

inherently flawed:

if the smith program takes over all the human bodies, the solution that the oracle has created to balance the matrix is refuted - free will. remember that the matrix will not work without free will. as neo put it:

Quote:

the problem is choice

if the oracle's solution fails, then the matrix fails, and that stable power that the machines depend on will also fail.

if you are thinking logically, tihis raises quite a question: HOW would the machines know that Smith has taken over Bane? - and i can see that you are thinking logically since you have already asked the question.

btw - you are so close to the answer. don't give up. you CAN figure this out logically.

If the machines do not fear smith-thn there is no logic to the peace treaty. The machines agree to peace in exchange for neo stopping smith.

Neo did lose though. Smith kicked his ass like a red headed step child.

Uhh hate to burst the big bubble, but your forgeting something...remember the Oracle says that after Smith takes control over the whole Matrix, he wont stop there, she said that Smith would destroy the Matrix...so yea, Smith would be a threat to the Machines.

No Matrix=No Power source=No Machines

Then she says that he won't stop there, I dont know what Smith could do in the real world, maybe destroy the Machines or take over them somehow...
