Simply a balanced equation...

After all the hype and complicated theories that circle the Matrix, after seeing Revolutions, I'm wondering if it all just didn't come down to a simple equation.

1 + -1 = 0

Neo is the one, after all - and the Oracle clearly states that Agent Smith is his negative. The Oracle said that her purpose was to unbalance the Matrix - thus I believe that she was behind the creation of Neo. The Architect, on the other hand, was supposed to balance the equation, and created Smith as an attempt to do so. As Neo's power grows, so does Smith's, until Smith finally copies himself over to Neo, and the equation is complete, with the positive and negative simply cancelling out into nothing.

Thoughts?

After all the posting I did regarding Agent Smith and him being Neos equal but opposing force; and being shot down in flmaes by Mr STINKZ (where is he by the way?), I'm just gonna' wallow here because I did say many times that SMITH and NEO were one and the same, they had to die together to balance out the unbalanced equation....my thesis is just gonna' get me a pass! Cool

If Neo and Smith are equal and opposite, then having them both exist balances the equation as much as having neither; there's no impetus for destruction of either.

1+-1=0 is the same as 1=1.

Not necessarily...

There isn't necessarily an equation if you have 1 and -1 written down on a sheet of paper. They don't cancel each other out until they're forced to interact and are put together.

Also, it seems that the power of Neo and the power of Smith is never exactly equal. Through the first and second movies, Smith is always having to race to compete against Neo - and then, in the third, he's finally swung around to the point that he's actually more powerful. If Neo doesn't reach his full potential until he comes to his final realization, and Smith doesn't come to his full potential until he's assimilated Neo, it stands to reason that the equation wasn't precisely balanced until that point in time.

The problem here is that Smith's original purpose was to die in 'The Matrix'. But he didn't delete himself after serving his purpose. You can notice that Smith was getting greedy in 'The Matrix' when he was interrogating Morpheus. He removed his earpiece to talk to Morpheus and the other Agents looked at each other when they saw what he did. This is the start of his disobedience.

Only Neo was supposed to exist to balance the Matrix. He is the superstring theory that is necessary to correct the anomalies in the Matrix Theory.

The imbalance ended on Reload. All that was necessary was that Neo has to make a CHOICE. He did make a choice, which is not to go back to the source. The Matrix is balanced at the end of Reload.

In Revolutions, his his purpose was no longer predetermined, but rather it was on Neo's own to take upon himself to take this new path... which is, in time, he knows that he has to sacrifice himself... hence the line applies to him "everything that has a beginning has an end".

Yes but he was only one half of the whole.
With everything, everywhere there has to be a harmony. An equal but opposing force.. Negative/positive, Black/White, Light/Dark, Weak/Strong blah de blah.... Do you see? Cool
