Think of what the overall reason is for making this series. To make money. Sure, there may be some religious symbolism, or beliefs, or philosophy that they wanted to show as well, but the #1 purpose was to make the $. Did they succeed in this purpose? I would say so.

The first movie got us hooked and then we saw the second, then we saw the Animatrix, and played Enter the Matrix the game, and now Revolutions. They could not leave the third movie completely closed, explained, and all loose ends tied. Why? Because leaving it open allows them to make more $. Maybe another game...maybe a TV series....maybe another movie...or all three. They are brilliant!

IMO, I enjoyed Revolutions and the whole series. The artistic qualities in all of them are amazing to me...the camera shots....special effects...music and etc. I loved the last fight scene with Neo and Smith. That was definately DBZ style (except a lot quicker)....it was great! The only thing I did not like was the redo of the column scene where really the only diffference was guys could walk on the ceiling. Other than that I enjoyed the movie thouroughly.

For those that did not like the way things turned out...watch the Animatrix series. It makes the ending a lot more acceptable. At least I thought so.

I agree. If anything, I found revolutions to be better than reloaded, nearing the greatness of the first movie. When people begin to look past Revolutions stale acting, science fiction cliches, and decision not to specifically give audiences closure (which probably would've been done through backstory and plodding scenes involving characters who suddenly understood everything or introduced at the last minute), they'll see that revolutions is a good movie. Yes, it's certainly distinct, and sure, it borrows heavily from other movies the brothres have enjoyed, but it lets the audience formulate many of their own conclusions. So far, that alone has proven to be its greatest weakness...

...A question: would those of you unsatisfied with revolutions ending be happy if all your queries were answered? I suspect that once you view the movie a time or two and begin thinking through its various scenes, explanations for the various 'problems' you see in teh series will surface. Don't think I'm in love with the movie, though. It's writing is quite poor at times, and the shift in focus is bothersome, but the pace, one of my concerns with reloaded, has been addressed fully.

Meanderings aside, holster your personal biases and begin to think. It may seem unsatisfying to many of you that the explanations for which you sought so long were never clearly adressed, but in the end, recognition for course the brothers chose to take with teh films will be realized.

While the overall purpose for the studio is to make money, the directors are artists too. You do not spend six years or whatever writing a story just for some bucks. They were out to create a story that modernizes religious beliefs and myths with stunning special effects. As for the animatrix, I think there was more to it than making money too. People loved the matrix so much they wanted to add their own two bits to it.

I think they succeded in their purpose though. They raised movies to a new intellectual height. Most people these days become machines, serving their purpose to work 9 to 5. This is not your cookie cutter James Bond flick. This is not your critically acclaimed "drama". I think a lot of us forgot how fun it is to think, or maybe forgot entirely how to think, and choose not to accept the movie.[/b][/i]

What's so wrong with the acting. I felt it was all very convincing. Every time I hear people complaining that the acting was stale, or just not present. What would have made it good acting? It was acted well in my mind.
