Anyway, when Agent Smith infects The Oracle he gives us his menacing laugh and the other Agent Smiths back off in fear. Why? Is he now all powerful?

I guess having taken over The Oracle he can see what she could, which is why he begins to have deja-vu when defeating Neo. "I have seen this" he says, or something similar.

But why was it THIS Agent Smith who fought Neo - I originally thought it was the original. Maybe there was no longer an original.

I guess The Oracle was too powerful for Agent Smith and she began to influence him?

Who built Zion & how? (asked in Zion forum).

What actually was the purpose of The Merovingian and Persephone? If any.

Why save Trinity at the end of Reloaded only to kill her in Revolutions? Just a personal note of sadness.

How DID Agent Smith 'possess' Bane? Now that is definitely NOT explained.

I can answer one of your questions:

Smith was able to use Bane's body because the Agents are software written to run on a human brain, just like all people. How do they agents spawn? They have to take over the brain of someone connected to the matrix.
