Just saw the last film last night, and a few things struck me....
The purpose of the One was to return his programming to the source, which although in Reloaded he did not, I think he did once agent smith was destroyed , hence why the matrix could be re-booted....
At the end, you see him ( i took it as this ) leaving his body and entering the system. Becoming part of it, or his mind entering the machine systems as a program exisits in the machine world . . . ( possibly in the same was a Morph tells us in the first film " at the beginning there was a man born inside the matrix, who could reshape the matrix as he saw fit " ), therefore actually becoming part of the system, and possibly returning to the source....
I have a couple of questions thought....
The Oracle said that his powers extend from this world, to the Machine world and all the way back to the source. How, he has not returned to the source at this point?
The second one i have been pondering over is this.
"purpose of the one is to return his programming to the source" . To return implies he originated from the source. Therefore could it be...
The one program was implanted in to Neo, in much the same was as Kung Fu was implanted in his brain while training....
or
Neo actually was a program from the machine world, hence why he had to return to the source for the matrix to be rebooted....
but then, the Architect said he was selected because of his hightened attachment to the "your species", impling he is human....
all very confusing....
Also, how could Neo see the machine with out being plugged in when blind, unless he could be linked to the matrix/machines with out being plugged in.... in which case, why when he returned to the matrix at 01, did the machines plug him in, why did he need to be plugged in if he could now see and touch the source? ( placing his hands up to stop the machines cause he could touch the source )
its just a bit of rambling, hopefully someone can help me understand a bit better....
Also, as a last point, i think they could have made the last few minuets of the film a bit better. the ending seemed tagged on the end. The sunrise over the city, seemed to much like a hollywood ending. im not saying i could have done better, but i expected better....
