I've said it before, and I'll say it again - No Matrix 4!

It seems like everytime something decent comes along in the world, someone has to push it too far until its just not fun anymore. Movies are, of course, the best example of this. They made the Fast and the Furious, and then ruined it with 2 Fast 2 Furious. They made the Star Wars Trilogy, and then ruined it with the new Star Wars Movies. Hell, even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has felt the sting of corporate America trying to suck every penny from a dying idea.

Why do that to the Matrix? The Wach. brothers set out to do what they wanted to do, and now with Revolutions, created the first good 'conclusion' movie in a long time. So why push it? There's no need for more movies, novels, comics, etc. I'm sure your imagination can create a much better future for the world than any hollywood exec.

Now, this doesn't mean I'm whole-heartedly against Matrix Online. I'm sure I'll play it, and I'm sure it'll be fun (although no MMORPG has been all that impressive to me in the past). I don't even mind that its set after Revolutions, but if people keep pushing it you're going to end up in the same world of hurt that Star Wars did, where 50 different authors wrote up 1,000 different stories from the 'Star Wars Universe' that are all supposely 'true' to the overall storyline, but in the end are just excuses to make action figures that coincide with the book.

And if you disagree with me, just remember - if the trend of continuing the Matrix series continues, it'll only be a matter of time before Fox comes out with a weekly Matrix TV show. Think about it.

peace,
Matt

"The comics are essential to understanding the full story arc that the brothers created. Their vision is so vast, it cannot be contained in three movies. Buy these comics as well as the next three games, T-shirts, trading cards, posters, action figures, blow-up dolls, and both the Widescreen and Full Screen editions of Revolutions, and you will be as omnipotent as the Oracle in all areas of the Matrix."

I wholely agree. The story has been told and concluded well. The things that got us intrigued and kept us watching were...

the unfolding nature of the matrix

    Neo's saga

    the fate of Zion

...and these have all been explored or developed to the fullest extent. Why add more?

There is no need for a 4th sequel. If a movie was planned to be a Trilogy, just like Star Wars, why ruin it by adding more prequels or sequels to it? It would probably go from one of the best movies of all time to one of the gayest movies of all time....

This movie sucked the first time around.

As for the Matrix,

I agree. There is NO NEED AT ALL for a Matrix 4. And, I'm sure the WB know this.

That said, there's NOTHING wrong with producing comics and books about the Matrix. They don't really effect the franchise.

Even in the Star Wars expanded universe George Lucas does not consider it to be "true" or feel that he needs to stick to the guide lines of the extra books (though, believe me, he should, especially Timohty Zahn).

It is ESSENTIAL that the WB come out with a Animatrix: Reloaded or something like that. This is where the stuff that DIDN'T necessarily need to be explained can be explained for the die hard fans. (i.e. Who exactly is the Merovingian and where did he come from? What are some of his life experiences?) Stuff like that.[/quote]

The Matrix: Revolutions rocked!

Now that, I'd watch.

I finally got around to watching the Animatrix properly recently (I bought a DVD player for Xmas) and while it was OK, it was not wonderfully inventive or engrossing. But that's OK too. I think maybe some of the stories would have been better done as full length features (like 2nd Ren I & II) instead of shorts.

Maybe the Animatrix II would cover the failure of the 1st matrix, with maybe origin stories for several characters included.

the questions i want answered

who is the merovingian and what is his history

how is seraph connected to the merovingian and why does mero call seraph "the angel without wings" in french while standing on the balcony

why is the trainman so terrified of seraph

what is the backstory to the headline on neos computer in m1 "morpheus eludes capture at heathrow"

what was the matrix that failed really like-the perfect world-

what happened to the merovingian etc in revolutions...were they taken over by smith

who were neo predecessors

is sati significant and is she "the one"

what are the events that neo recognised while he was plugged in that caused him to reject the matrix?

My pet theory on this is that they all hid in the train station for the duration. Might make an interesting animated bit, though.
