The architect and the oracle

The Architect and Oracle are the left and right brain of the matrix. Most computers just have a logic unit, but the Oracles is a sort of unlogical intuitive unit. if you know about study of the brain you know that the left brain is logical and tries to put everything in order. The right brain is unlogical, under-oderly, intuitive, and random. Studies show that the right brain is capable of intuition and precognition. Thus you can see these characteristics in the Architects' (Left brain) and the Oracle's (Right Brain) behavior. For the Matrix to only be logical, orderly, and mathematically precise would be absurd and rejected by humans. This is why the Oracle was creating to fill in for that other part of the human mind, the randomness, unpredictibility, and intuitive side of human nature. This is why the oracle has intuitive and precognitive like abilities. Together they balance out the Matrix, the Architect balances things out and the Oracle unbalances and adds randomness and adds choice to them.

If it was up to the Architect alone everything would be mathematically precise, straightforward, and pretty much bland. The Archtitect is only the father of "THE MATRIX" not the entire machine world. His abilities are limited to the Matrix, that's why when he refers to destroying Zion he refers to "we". He was just like the programer of the Matrix program nothing more. My theory is that the Oracle bringing back smith and creating the super Smith, this is why Smith calls her mom. She created Smith to end the loop of the false prophecy. Notice she never talks to Neo about Smith untill the final time they meet. That's why she didnt' hesitate in letting him take over her body. She wanted smith to take over the entire Matrix and making it to were Neo and Smith creating a truce between man and machine to let Neo go in and fight Smith. But she didn't know if Neo would win or not, but she believed.

please any comments or questions

I think the reason why smith calls her "mom" is that the smith who enters the room is the same smith that took over the little girl.

Another example of this is when "oracle-smith" in the end of the fighting-scene calls neo "neo", and not mr anderson as always.

I think your theory is excellent. The Matrix originally started out as "mathematical precision", and thus wouldn't conform to a human mind, which needs disorder and chaos to complement it. Brilliant.

This leads to many questions concerning the relationship between the real world and the Matrix: how closely can artificial intelligence replicate the human mind? Like the Architect says, emotions are created by chemicals within the brain reacting to each other. Smith then delivers (I think) his best monologue in the trilogy with the conclusion of the third movie. He explains that their is no purpose for life but to die, and thus emotions like love and hope, etc. are merely tools human use to try to fill in meaning for an otherwise meaningless existence. This makes humans very machine-like.

I really do believe you're correct with the left and right sides (chaos vs. order, black vs. white, good vs. evil). I think the whole point the Wachowskis are making with this contrast is that machines and humans form a symbian relationship, both relying upon each other to survive. Thus, it would be easier to understand why Neo has machine-like powers in the real world, why a program like Smith can take human form, and why when your mind dies in the Matrix, your body dies in the real world.

Any thoughts?

I dunno. I think that Smith calls the Oracle mom because she is the "Mother of the Matrix" so really all the programs should call her "Mom."

I think the reason Smith calls her "Mom" is because The Oracle created him, specifically to take over "The Matrix", and cause the events that led to the end of the war, therefore she is Smith's mom.

Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is...You have to see it for yourself.

Question: at the end of revolutions, when the oracle and the architect are together, this conversation takes place:

Oracle: what about the others?
Architect: What others?
Oracle: the ones who want out.
Architect: Ovbiously, they will be freed
Oracle: I have your word?
Archietect: What do you think I am... human?

I got this from the transcript. I have not seen Revolutions...yet, (parental reasons) so I am trying to learn all I can about the movies. I would like to know, do those people get freed? and does the architect say what he says because he is refering to the fact that he will keep a promise because he is not human?

I am really confused on this part.

Dunno, it doesn't go that far, the film ends right after the conversation.
(Side note: No-one explicitly mentions people, the Oracle could have been referrring to people and/or programs)

Yes (at least that's my belief, but I suppose it will be debated somewhere on here)

That's not so bad, a lot of people are confused AFTER seeing it. Shocked

It is my belief that not all humans get freed. The Oracle asks about the ones THAT WANT OUT. That means the percent of the population that doesn't accept the matrix will now be willingly freed and not persued. This might also refers to programs with no purpose such as the Indian Girl Sati. Besides, what will the machines do for energy. And that last scene occurred in a new version of the Matrix. Version 7. A reload occured and they showed the deja vu cat. The sunrise made is not the real sun. Its a sunrise made by Sati.

Oracle: did you do that?
Sati: uh ha...its for Neo.

or somethin like that

Too bad I haven't read this before I posted my own theory... (matrix-explained.com...) - it is exactly the same idea, but I don't think I expressed myself as nicely as Maxis005 - I especially like his explanation of left and right brain (although, on second thought, you might find something on top of that in my thread too Cool

Another thing that crossed my mind regarding this theory - there are hints all over the trilogy that nothing happens just by chance. So for what other reason could Smith get "unleashed"? Remember he doesn't understand it himself, he didn't do it on purpose - "I knew the rules, I knew what I was supposed to do, but I couldn't. I was compelled..." (not exact citation, sorry about that). To me this means he had to be "equipped" with his ability on purpose. And together with the Architect's remark about the Oracle playing a dangerous game, for me this is clearly a very logical explanation.

By leading neo to "make up his own damn mind" she was playing a dangerous game. Which almost caused the destruction of the matrix which would have destroyed her, the architech and all the humans connected to the matrix. Had she just let things happen Neo most likely would have reloaded the matrix without any of the smith Nonsense. Smith was just a product of the "anomoly going unchecked"
