if gold=the source, the source can't be everywhere.

i'm not sure that the gold "code" is actually code. it's more like machine / program energy. in any case, code or not, if the gold symbolizes the source, and if the source if everywhere, neo would see nothing but gold after his blinding, since well, everywhere is everywhere. but he only sees the gold when he looks at machine energy, like smith (via bane) or the power conduits of the machine city, or the machine city itself. remember that when he leaves the hovercraft and walks into the machine city he looks down and can see his legs as black, not because he can actually see his legs, but because they are blocking out the machine energy. if the gold is the source and the source is everywhere, neo's legs would be gold, too, from his perspective. the gold must therefore be limited to machines and programs, and not organic matter, or inorganic matter that has not been suffused with machine energy.

why does everyone think smith/bane is gold code? it looks red and on fire to me...the other gold code doesn't look like this...

the "gold code" ranges from white to gold to light orange to near red depending upon the scene in which one sees it. it still seems clear that whatever this gold-orange-red light is, it is somehow connected to machine / program energy / consciousness. it is the soul of a.i.
smith / bane can only be seen by neo in his blinded state because he, like the denizens of 01, is an artificial consciousness, which neo can see because of his connection to the source.
your previous post seems to imply that you do not believe the scene that portrays smith / bane from neo's perspective to be a representation of smith's soul / code. what, then, is your suggestion? what is this flaming reddish likeness of smith supposed to represent?

good question...i don't think it's gold code...so i'm not sure...but ok why if it IS gold code or what ever color why does it have a fire like quality? no other code is shown this way, green, gold or otherwise...

i'm going to have to guess that this fiery quality is poetic license and that smith's anger and hatred for neo cause his soulcode to have a flamelike quality. and remember that the word "smith" originally referred to a blacksmith, who used the intense heat of a smithy to construct his tools and weapons. smith tempers himself in the smithy-forge of his hatred, hence, the flaming soulcode.
