[Matrix Revolutions]
Bane/Smith: "I admit, it is difficult to think, encased in this rotting piece of meat. The stink of it filling every breath, a suffocating cloud you can't escape. [spits blood] Disgusting! Look at how pathetically fragile it is. Nothing this weak is meant to survive."

There are a lot of people tralking about how they were dissapointed about the 3rd installment, how this, this, and that hasnt been answered. But for me at least, and probably for many others, every single question has been answered, even though i have to wait for the dvd before looking at the dialogue closer, i dont really need to. Everything is there on a silver platter. A stroke of genius,

Why does neo have powers in the real world ? Answered

Who is the mother of the matrix ? Answered

What happened at the end with Neo ? Answered

The black cat at the end ? Answered

Its all there, but before i write an essay i will see which posts pop up in comment and answer individually, i believe my opinions on the film to be accurate, i know the answers because i watched the film with an open mind, i watched the film listening to the characters, thinking back to M1 and M2 instead of sitting with my popcorn bitching saying 'morpheus isnt in it enough, oh and moan and moan' instead of moaning, ask questions.

Well Neo is obviously represented as a God like being, he plays the role of a god, everybody looking upto him as a saviour, sacrificing himself for the good of mankind. Its all there, so i think he is a God but not in the traditional sense, his abilities are all explained in the movie by the oracle, as soon as she says "the powers of the one stretch far beyond this world (the world of the matrix, so they stretch into the real world) all the way back to where it came from, the source" here is the key, Neos powers stretch to the Source, the centre of machine AI, the epicentre that controls everything about the machines and programs, THIS is how he can destroy sentinels at will, he holds up his hand, to show the audience he is 'in-touch' (for want of a better cliche) with the part of him that still remains in the source. It also explains the fact that he can see every machine and program, he knows where they are and what they are doing, because again, he is in touch with the part of him that lays in the source. Did you notice how he couldnt see Trinity when she was dying? because the source has absolutley no link to her or the rest of the humans. Its all there mate all in the dialogue

Oh sorry the black cat. Remember the black cat from M1? it appeared twice, deja vu, it happens when somethin changes in the matrix. the black cat again appears twice at the end, deja vu, something in the matrix has been changed, the matrix is a mess before the black cat shows up, agent smith in the rain says "do you like what i have done with the place", he is so powerful he has begun to take over the matrix, there is no telling how much of it is dark, pouring with rain, and how many duplicates there are of him, he could even have changed absolutely everybody on the 'matrix' planet. "do you like what i have done with the place" is pointing out that it is his, "this is MY world" he shouts during the fight.

So back to the cat, it is showing you that something has changed, the change being that Neo has been returned to the source, the Matrix has been rebooted, as you see by the desroyed tiles mending themselves.

These are my opinions, i hope other people watched the film properly and can agree with me on this

Cheers

I have alot of questions.. I do understand alot of the trilogy. But a couple of questions still taunt me. Im more than sure, that neo did die, but what was the machine that was hauling him off? He was on a platform for what? Burial? Another thing, sure i probably missed it, maybe ive just forgotten and if i have.. Id like to remember by asking and being told then going through the movies again trying to remember that way. But the fields of humans plugged into the matrix are in the machine city. They are maintained by machines. The creator, or developer, created all of this? He built the machines, he built all of this? I know ive missed that part, but even still.

One more thing, when the oracle asked the creator about the others being released.. I dont think she meant programs.. I think she meant the other "Ones." Or am i wrong?

First off, I LOVED the movie. Absolutely loved it Very Happy Very Happy

Ok, about Smith.. he had taken over everyone connected to the Matrix. The cat was just used to symbolize that the Architect was rebuilding it.

I also dont think Neo is dead. The last scene of him shows him in the orange "code" (which only he can see). I think he was just knocked out after that jolt the machines gave him to kill Smith.

"Others" being released meant the people in the Matrix. If they wanted to stay oblivious and live out their lives in the Matrix, they could; If they wanted out, they would be set free and sent to Zion.

The ONLY thing that I wish they wouldve concentrated more on was the Merovingian. Why was he so evil? Because he was french? I dont know.

I don't consider these as every question answered. More people dislike the entire film as a whole - not just because it didn't or did answer questions...

OK, at the beginning we are told that Sati, the little girl at the train station is a program that has no purpose, and to the machines this is a bad thing, so she was scheduled for deletion. But at the end, when all the Smiths are destroyed, the only bodies that we see "recover" are those of The Oracle and Sati. So that has kept me thinking ever since I left the theatre, what was her purpose? Cuase it seemed to me that she did. Any ideas?

Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is...You have to see it for yourself.

In reply to NINJ4,

Your right, Neo did die, the machine that carted him away was for what i can only presume.. to return him to the source and reboot the matrix. The purpose of the one was always to return to the source, just Neo didnt choose to do it when the architect told him to do. As for the fields of humans, when the ship went topside, the humans were outside the borders of the Machine city, the layout was 'Human fields' 'The Cities final defense (the big guns)' and then the city where the ship crashed.

I dont think the creator simply created the machines and fields that you refer to, the machines have evolved over god knows how many years, and this is the stage they are at now. It has all been built over a period of time. And finally the oracle was referring to us, humans, still hooked up to the matrix, as being released. The architect said something along the lines of 'those who want to be freed will be freed' So Neo has given humanity the choice.

Excellent question mate, the whole role of Sati and her Mum and Dad is something i havent delved into. As far as i can gather, Rama Kandra found a meaning to the word love, he doesnt understand it but he is trying to figure out what it means, his wife is an excellent software writer he tells us, so it figures that she wrote the program of their daughter, so they can try to experience this 'love'. Their daughter has no purpose, and so must be deleted, Rama Kandra makes a deal with the merovingian to import his daughter into the matrix, im not sure what Rama Kandra gave in return, the oracle takes Sati in to care for her, and from there im stuck. The oracle talks to her at the end, when the sun comes up and Sati said she made the sunrise for Neo.. so it does seem she now has a purpose if at first she didnt have one, BUT at the mobil ave, Sati seems to know Neo already, know him and of him, so her role is very intriguing,

Haha a question un-answered, there ya go Deus Ex, but im sure ill revel in it once i find out what she is there for

There has to be more to it than that mgt, it wouldnt be right to have so many intricaces in the film, and then just for her to be the creator of mornings, there is an explanation for her role, just as everyone elses, roll on the dvd

IN M2....
Do you see those birds?
In a certain point a program|it was written to govern them.
A program was written|to take care of the trees,
and of the wind, and of the one|dawn, and of the decline.
There are programs being executed|for the whole place.

IN M3
Now, sati is one of these programs, a sunrise designer o creator. (is my opinion)

Nothing in life has meaning beyond the meaning that we assign to it. If you personally felt that everything was answered, then it was. If you don’t feel that everything was answered, then it wasn’t. I feel that everything relevant was answered. A movie with no ambiguity, so that people couldn’t develop separate opinions and theories about it, would be nothing more than a linear action film. I find that the entire trilogy was presented very well.

Is Neo Christ? Maybe he is. He is resurrected by Trinity in the first movie, and then later resurrects her in the next one. This is what Christ did: preformed miracles. Even the counselors in the final movie are told to ask Morpheus’ opinion on the chances of survival…why? “Because he’s the one that believes in miracles." Even the names are not by chance… Trinity could possibly refer to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit… Maybe that’s stretching it. But maybe not. What about the Merovingian? Merovingian were the French kings who were descendants of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, thought to have been killed off by the Roman church. Is Mobil Ave (is that it?) a metaphor for purgatory? Does that creepy-ass train dude supposed to represent a Hades-type firgure, guarding the gates of hell? Just food for thought.

I need to see the final movie a few more times before I get more comfortable developing my theories. Remember, even if you don’t believe in Christ, and the myth that is “the bible,” remember, the Matrix is also not real. I just don’t wanna see people getting hung up on the religious references, then start flaming about “how it really happened.” I am about the farthest thing from a religious expert, so please add your opinions as necessary. But as religion is a touchy subject, DO try to not force your beliefs as fact.

I’ll post some more of my theories after seeing the movie again, and studying some more religion.

I totally agree hideto. If you're still wondering things then its because you are (sounds like the oracle) The Wachowski brothers didn't plan to answer all your questions with these movies, they planned to tell a story start to finish and thats exactly what they did. Some people are still wondering and some people aren't but the story was completed, even if yous didn't like it.

i loved it.... i got all the answers too...

one thing though... i thought that the reason that neo could stop the sentinals was because bane/smith was able to use an emp...

so if they are opposite but equal, then neo must be able to have the same powers....

again.... i agree with russ... its all there

Not gone yet,

The emp bane/smith used, was one physically installed by the people of Zion, he didnt create his own EMP power, he just triggered one inside Zion,

Hope i am of help and thanks for everyones contirbutions and views!

What purpose does the Kid have? (the kid that frees himself in the Animatrix) Does he have any other purpose other than to help open the 3rd gate? He seems more unique than the others that were freed from the Matrix, because he unplugged himself. Anyone have any Ideas... I was just curious. Could the kid be the next "one"? I don't know, I just thought i'd throw it out there.

Clearly, Neo is a Christ figure. After the sacrifice scene where he gives himself up willingly for the rest of humanity, we see his physical body in the machine city (01) "overtaken" by a bright orange cross (in the "Neo-view"). He is frequently referred to as "The One" a name frequently used for Christ in the Bible. He is called "my savior", "my own personal Jesus Christ", and dozens of other Christ-allusions ... However, he clearly is NOT Christ. Neo kills, Neo lies, Neo seeks vengeance ... all completely in contrast to Jesus Christ in the Bible. Thus, the Matrix is NOT the Bible - it is NOT the story of Jesus Christ ... it is simply a story with a main character who is modelled after Christ in many ways ...

Yes, it is MOBIL AVE, and not coincidentally (there are quite probably no coincidences in the series), MOBIL is an anagram of LIMBO. In the Catholic tradition, (and perhaps in the more broad Christian tradition, though I do not know of any such references in the bible), the Saints of the Old Testament are put into a place known as the "Limbo of the Fathers", a "place/time/?" where these Redeemed people stayed until the redemption that came through Christ. In any case, being in limbo refers to being between two things (the bar and the ground in the case of the caribbean game).

Sure, he is like Charon, the ferryman of the Underworld (since Hades is the ruler of the underworld, and not the one who guards its gates or ferries people between the underworld and earth). Cerberus is the three-headed dog that guards the gates of Hell, but I don't recall seeing anything indicative of him.

The black cat at the end ? Whats mean?

1. Personally I think whether Neo is a god, a representative of God, or even God Himself doesn't matter. What matters is that he is a savior, probably the Savior. He had (has?) special powers, but more importantly he chose to use them to TRY to save humanity. He did not have to, was not required to. He tried because he actually had little conviction that he could, only that he had to given his mysterious powers, powers that he didn't fully understand himself.

The above applies whether Neo was originally a program or a human. Certainly he is likely now neither and both.

In either case he was conditioned by his life inside the Matrix, the life outside of the Matrix, all those around him...yet he always had some choice. (The Merovingian is not entirely wrong on this.)

2. Don't think the cat is symbolically important, except as a surface signpost of the status of the Matrix code.

Rama Kandra gave the Merovingian the termination codes to destroy the Oracle's shell. This is why she had to take on another form. That, and the fact that the actress who played the Oracle in the first two movies passed away.

Mobil... Limbo... fascinating! I'm glad to hear that this movie is a deep as I had initially suspected.

As a further note on Neo's death and his christ-like self sacrifice for mankind: the position he was in was a cross shape. Even as he lied on the ground after the machines started sending him away, he was in a position as though he were on a crucifix. I just saw the movie a second time today, and some how I managed to miss that the first time. On an unrelated note, did anyone see the nipple twisting action at the Mervingian's club? How the hell did I miss that the first time I saw the movie?
