"What is the Matrix?, the first film asked. This film answers that. The Matrix is the marketing software that encourages movies like this to be made. And it must be disabled."
-- Stephen Whitty, NEWARK STAR-LEDGER

"The more thought you give the film, the less it deserves."
-- Nev Pierce, BBCI FILMS

"So disappointing they may as well have bussed in Ewoks to save Zion."
-- Christopher Null, FILMCRITIC.COM

"Please someone, get me the blue pill. I want to forget that this ambitious and noteworthy series is ending so weakly."
-- Nell Minow, MOVIE MOM AT YAHOO! MOVIES

"The Matrix Revolutions sucks."
-- Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE

"Silly humans, Matrix is for kids!"
-- Gregory Weinkauf, NEW TIMES

"I'm warning you: don't see this film--because whatever third movie you envisioned in your head, no matter how lame, has got to be better than this."
-- Widgett Walls, NEEDCOFFEE.COM

"The first Matrix stood alone brilliantly. The second carried on the story intriguingly but left gaps the third needed to fill. Instead, Revolutions raises questions without answering any."
-- Lawrence Toppman, CHARLOTTE OBSERVER

"The Wachowskis... lean so heavily on concepts and designs from Aliens... that you half-expect to hear Bill Paxton wailing 'Game over, man!' in the background."
-- James Sanford, KALAMAZOO GAZETTE

"This isn't revolution, this is devolution."
-- Tom Long, DETROIT NEWS

"One of the most original concepts in recent fantasy movie history has devolved into something perfectly ordinary."
-- Geoff Pevere, TORONTO STAR

"With The Matrix Revolutions, the Wachowski brothers have managed to pull off something nearly impossible. They've made a movie about the end of the world that leaves us entirely indifferent to the outcome."
-- Chris Vognar, DALLAS MORNING NEWS

Yeah its nice to see all their opinions backed up so well too....
You seem to love bashing this movie because it wasn't exactly what you wanted. Im really sorry the whole series didn't end the way you saw fit. Maybe you woudlv'e been happy with the ridiculous matrix within a matrix theory? Personally im glad revolutions was the way it was.

Revolutions answered the questions I wanted answered and the ending fit what I expected. I adore this movie.

MwM was not a genius theory. It was stupid. It would have been the easy way out. And then they would have trapped themselves in a loop hole because then no one would ever know if there even WAS a real world. If you can remember back to the first story you ever wrote in second grade, that's one of the rules you're supposed to follow in order to have an entertaining story. Copping out in the end like that just doesn't work. And I hardly think that a theory that people (hundreds of thousands of fans) came up with 5 minutes after they left the theater is hardly genius.

Not all of the critiques were on your side. Ebert comes to mind. I'd have to look around for more examples, but there are just as many pros as there are cons.

Alot of things could be true Knnknn this movie could be a true story for all we know. The sentinals could actually like ice cream. The whole series could actually be a dream. If we keep digging deeper into the movie then intended well find alot of maybes. Anything is possible but that doesnt mean its the truth. Their were never any clues that the matrix was within a matrix. Unless of course you dug alot deeper then intended and mad your own bs theories

If that was the case, why didn't Neo bring Trinity back to life again? Keanu Reeves said earlier on that the whole trilogy was a love story. In a way, I could see that. But with the general populus's view of what love is supposed to be, Neo would have brought her back even if it meant killing himself to do so. MwM is kid stuff.

Because the Zion Matrix (if there is anything like this) is coded differently.

Let me ask you: How can Neo see Bane with sunglasses in gold code?

When I first saw Matrix Reloaded I thought that the Matrix in a Matrix theory was true, especially after visiting here and reading all the topics.
But, after seeing Revolutions I though the ending was perfect, generally answering most questions and also giving the trilogy a conclusion.
The actual ending is far better than the old theory, instead of using an argubly easy way out. I didnt think they could do it.

You're just bitter because you were wrong!

He is part of the source. The source "sees" all of the machine world in that gold code. It's how the machines see each other. That's why Neo was unable to see Trinity or anything else except for the machine world. If it was another matrix, everything would be in code of some sort.

im pretty sure it was because neo is a machine, and he can see the machines in gold code, its how they see themselves, neo can't see anything that wasn't made by the machines or/and is a machine, it seems this way when hes blind, when you see through his view, anything made by Zion or anyone/anything else is invisible (like theres nothing behind Bane through neo's view becuase the ship wasn't made by the machines, you can only see Smith, you see him up against a detailed wall from the proper camera view, but see none of that in the gold code).

at the end u also see neo in the gold code, meaning he is a machine, and you see smith in gold code, hes a machine, both made BY the machines, get it ? I hope so, its just a theory.

by the way knn i think your treating this film too harshly, there are plenty of clues like in reloaded, its going to take a while to spot them all, but come on, cheer up chicken Wink

Theres one BIG THING you forgot. Neo cant see anything but machines and programs etc when hes blind right. That probably should tell you that hes not a machine. Wanna know why? The machines can see the humans! Proved your theory wrong.

He can't see because he's blind, but he can see what the source is showing him...which is the communication between machines.

Revolutions turned out exactly as it should have. The storyline was great and I don't have any questions that weren't answered. Straight off the bat, some might say that it didn't reveal whether the mwam theory was correct. But just look at the damn theory. It is so abstract. I mean, with enough 'buts' and 'maybes', you might just be able to make it work. But it was a ridiculous idea in the first place. Therefore, I maintain that knn(x2) is sore about this and thus he criticises the film harshly.

And how can neo be a program? If that is so he wouldn't have a body in the real world.

BTW, Smith calling the oracle 'mom' does not mean she is the mother of the matrix. The oracle called smith a bastard and smith reply meant 'if i'm a bastard you must be my mom'.

The Matrix f***ing sucks. All you trendy wanna-be digerati need to stop drinking from the well of group think long enough to realize that the Wackoffski Brothers are a couple of hack hipsters wankers who clearly like to masturbate to their self-perceived brilliance. Eric Hoffer would call you saps 'true believers' just like the blind adherents to christianity, nationalism, etc.

The matrix movies are trite, poorly written, barely acted and lacking any real intellectual insights short of what passes for genius after the hooka's been around the table a few too many times. Get over it, move on.

MwM theorists need not apply. Neo can see machines and has power over them because he, along with all other humans formerly plugged into the matrix, is part machine. The difference between Neo and the other humans are his grasp over the rules of the Matrix. Understanding the program which governs human life, and being blinded, gave him the opportunity to use his existent connection to machines in a very powerful way. The Oracle herself explains this when she tells that Neo is stuck between both worlds, and the Architect adds to it after Neo has visited the source.

Neo can't save trinity because he has no power over nature itself in the real world. Machines are different because they are all interconnected. Neo is a part of the connection, and a part of them, so he can tap into his immense powers and dispatch them.

You guys have some great ideas, both from reloaded, and revolutions. Don't be so quick to set them aside, though. Many of them still stand on their own. Just because revolutions didn't explicably tell you that your theory is true doesn't mean that it isn't. I think most of you expected revolutions to wrap everything up very neatly--something very uncharacteristic of the series. Don't be phased by its extreme change in style or focus and try applying pre-existing theories to teh movie. Change them according to content within the movie, but keep an open mind throughout.

I've visited this site several times, and I think it would be a dissapointment if the webmaster stopped covering the trilogy at this point. Revolutions, while different, offeres a lot to the series. It may not directly answer your questions, but I'm confident that with a little digging, you can find them. Put your disaapointment aside, watch the movie again, and start writing up a new theory. I'm waiting.

And I'm not being sarcastic! Seriously, i'll agree with a lot of you folks who saw the movie and didn't like it. When I first saw it in the theaters, I thought the special effects and fight sequences were amazing, but it didn't seem to make any sense at all. I was frustrated my questions weren't answered, especially after Neo asked the Oracle directly. Its easy to hate this movie because you don't understand it, think about though, and you'll love it. I especially have a greater appreciation for this series because it made me think. I pretty much understand everything after seeing it a second time and reading tons of stuff on the internet. For those who claim it sucks for not directly answering your questions, open your mind. I bet the Wachowski bros. have a good laugh at all those reviewers. After years of looking at the same old same old movies they've fried their brains and take the easy way out by writing bad reviews. You think telling the Wachowski Bros. their movie sucks is going to hurt their feelings and make them wish they changed the movie? They've already made enough money on it! Take the red pill, free your mind from the constraints of reviewers nonsense. Allow your brain to evolve through new ways of thinking.

For those of you who want the series to be good but still think its bad, I advise seeing it a second time after recentley rewatching reloaded and reading about the two on the internet. I noticed so much the second time viewing.

Ask yourself how the sentinels are aware of the surroundings and other machines? In this internet age, how does your WIFI know if theres a network? Its quite simple really. The gold code is how they see each other. Neo is human with machine code in him. He sees what the other machines see. He has the power to order sentinels just like the machine AI, maybe order them to self destruct or malfunction.
Simplier explanation than your Zion matrix.

There is no ZION matrix, it doesnt make sense to make a million dollar movie for a storyline like that. Just drop it.
