I can't vote in this one because I enjoyed all the films for very different reasons - They were ALL excellent in their own right so I can't separate the 3 into the best/medium/worse catagories I'm afraid...

You're absolutely right Another Smith. Each one seems like an entirely different movie from the other and yet they were all great. M3 was a very dark film, like Empire Strikes Back, which is why I loved it. It felt much more emotional and for the first time in the Trilogy, the love between Neo and Trinity seemed real to me. Perhaps that's because Trinity was far more nurturing in the final installment. All three of them rocked for different reasons. M1 because it introduced us to a cool idea, M2 because it shattered our beliefs, and M3 because of what was mentioned above.

A whole movie or half a movie - how can you choose?

I think that a major problem with the question is that The Matrix was a whole movie in itself, wheras Reloaded and Revolutions were only different halves of the same movie. I thought the beginning of the Matrix sequels was better because there were less corny lines and more kung fu action. The Matrix original, on the other hand, has less corny lines (than both sequels) and a lot of kung fu (more than revolutions but perhaps less than reloaded). But if I saw the sequels as the single movie they are supposed to be I may have more trouble choosing between them or the original.

In short, Reloaded isn't as good as the Matrix and Revolutions isn't as good as the Matrix - but the sequels seen together could be better than the Matrix. (Can't wait to watch all the DVDs one after the other so I can make my mind up! YAY!)

It is obvious that the first movie was by far the best. If I had gone and just seen either the second or third movies by themselves, I would never have gone back to see another matrix movie.

First one: cool, new, exciting

Second: decently cool, unnew, lacked excitement

Third: not cool, new but lame, little excitement

I agree with the poll, because the Matrix 1 was by far the best movie. It got you thinking with its deep and complex storyline also with lots of action.Reloaded was pretty good, the reasons are for the excellent fighting scenes, and the Architects explanation of everything.Revolutions just failed to give enough answers, had the least fighting(bullet time)except for the zion battle which looked like a real version of Mechwarrior and was no way as good as the others.

Hey now. Matrix #1 was new and fresh. The special effects were new to us and we marvelled at them and also at the philosophical twists inside the movie. I know I liked a hero who wasn't all powerful from square 1, but who came to his powers gradually. Seriously, what could the film makers have done differently (besides maybe spending more time on plot development)? The fights and the way the Zion-rebels bent Matrix-rules had been exploited thus the fighting would be more or less the same in all three movies. The Exile programs like the Merovingian and the Trainman were cool addons but nothing could be done to match the "awws" and "oooh" gasped from many cinema goers as they watched movie #1. It had been done. That was enough for me. I did vote though, and I chose the one that was closest to being true for me. Best is #1 second best #2 and third best #3.
If you went to the cinemas or ordered the DVDs thinking that each new matrix movie would blow you away.. well, I feel sorry for you. Just sit back and enjoy some good action/drama/!xxx!

That was my two c.e.n.t.s. on this!

The Matrix is not ment to be divided into different movies, the idea is that the game(EtM), M, Reloaded, Rev and the Animatrix are just to be one thing to be thoroughly enjoyed as just "the Matrix". Its brilliant leaving little hints and answers to quotes by other characters. Such as the Oricals new shell in Revolutions, she says she was betrayed by two she trusted very much ( Sati's parents.) And in the park scene shes supposedly eating candy but shes eating red pills. The constant biblical references aswell. They merely get better movie by movie since they've been planned to follow into each other as one movie unlike action movies with shitty sequels simply because the first one was such a hit.

Well..... here I am.

i still love the first movie the best and really, i can't see how anyone should rate them in order...they r all good!

i love the first movie as the idea was fresh and matrix is not just another typical sci-fi movie and the second and third show was a lot harder to understand for me, a simpleton!

still trying to figure what matrix is all about

The Matrix is simple. It is as you see it, all the small hints they leave during it are what to look out for, as to how Smith was beaten in Revolutions. Neo was connected to Deus Ex Machina who is at the Source, when a program returns to the source, they are deleted, and Smith assimilated Neo giving Deus Ex Machina the perfect chance to delete him. You figure out all these suttle hints and you realise how brilliant and thought out the whole series is.

Man, this polls like trying to choose between my children.

And even after I made my selection, I know by tomorrow my choices will have changed.

But what I went with was 2, 3, 1

I thought all of the movies kicked a**!

I could come up with something more poetic... but I won't. Cool

I can't say that I like one movie best and another movie worst, so I can't vote here. I like em all.

Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is...You have to see it for yourself.

It is really difficult for me to rate them in terms of best-medium-worst, because I try to look at them as a whole. If I absolutly had to rate them I would say 1-3-2

The first one was what started everything, it was fantastic, it was just "Wow" something I had never seen before, and I loved it, and was anxiously anticipating the next part.

Reloaded, like most middle pieces in a Triligy left me (and most everyone) hanging on waiting for more. (Plus, Trinity was mad hot during that sex/rave scene, no matter how retarded the scene was.)

The final showdown between Smith and Neo in M3 had a pretty big impact on me, possibly more than any other part of the series. The first time I saw it I was just blown away. I mean, it was a pretty intense battle, very dramatic. I think what really captivated me most about the whole battle was the song Neodammerung.

I had seen it in theatres and I was just like "Whoa, Oh my god, I have to see it again... I have to see the final Smith and Neo Battle and the Zion battle again." Well, our theatre didn't keep it very long, and I had night classes so I was only able to see it 2 times in theatres, and I had to wait for it to come out on dvd.

I haven't yet bought the DVD (I am broke...well at least until after HS graduation in June) but I did rent it and rip the entire thing to my hard drive (then spent several hours converting it frame by frame to a super high quality divx movie.)

I am an Agent Smith fan, so another reason I really enjoyed that scene was all the Agent Smiths. Smith is such a better character than Neo (NEO FANS, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!) and Weaving was perfect for the role (seriously, who else could play such an awesome, sinister virus?) and he is just a better actor than Reeves (KEANU FANS, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!)

Well, I threw my opinions in... Nobody cares though, I just like posting my opinions! Uncle Ben

Agent Smith: Yes, me.

if u wud jus stop diggin so damn much, u wud actually come 2 apprciate tha greatness of all da whole trilogy. but Matrix 1 is sorta above the rest cuz it was really groundbreakin and made way for future movies(eg. bullet-time and those damn good special effects) it really pushed the envelope

I dont like how light the matrix is in 2 and 3, the green tint is also lessened.
I like the style of matrix one the best because it is darker and seems less based around fantasy than the other two. Revolutions is a brilliant film but there are too many cheesey predictable moments.

Reloaded was the best movie to me - it had a deep philosophical follow up from the original, but what puts it over the top is the action scenes. The original Matrix was hot because it was groundbreaking, and Revolutions put it all together.

i'd say the first one was a revelation to me. the other two deepend that experience and, after all, made everything a lot more clear to me. it was also great to see how neo developed through the movies. he was always just asking questions instead of answering them, and he was in bigger troubles than he probably would have been, if he never took the red pill. he was struggeling and fighting and he was lost.. i loved all of that.

so i think the movies really come as one package and accordingly Cool i stay undecided to which one was the best. there were some not too nescessary fight scenes that bore me when i watch 'em.. and the freeway scene was way too long, but hey, they build the fuckin freeway especially for it.. so, everythings just great.

best trilogy ever Cool

sometimes I listen to what people try to say
then when I tune in I think, no that's not the way
