Well, the moment is here.

I went to the 15:00 or 3 (is that am or pm?) screening in a THX certified theater. There was only matrix fans in the crowd, so the movie began and ended with cheering. Smile

On to the movie...

I really don't know what to say. I think I loved it. Even if it was much more an action/war movie than the two first, and it could seem to have less philosophy and drama, but it was there, crammed in between fantastic effects and lots of bullets.

In any case, we got some obvious answers...

- The Oracle is the mother. No surprise.
- Neo's powers are real in the real world. No surprise. Fuck the MWAMers.
- Trinity dies. I hoped it would be someone else.
- Neo didn't see Bane as Smith red code in the same scene as in the trailer. No surprise. How stupid can people get? Twisted Evil

Some other thoughts...

- Smith (Hugo Weaving) is absolutely wonderful! He rules!
- The new Oracle was not bad at all. She was just acting afraid, sitting there smoking alot of sigarettes.
- Almost no bullet time. More slow motion. I think.
- Niobe rules! Women can drive! Whoa!
- The Kid was important. I really liked the scenes with him and Mifune.
- I was right about the ending. "Buy The Matrix Online"
- Morpheus was just a shadow of his old self.

More to come... Smile

So, Neo returns to the source?

Just saw the Matrix yesterday (thanks to a friend who had a private show for the media).
I think it was great. Great as an action film at least. Here's some thoughts...

At the end, I got the feeling that Neo is some sort of a loser.
I like him, but it seems he never gets to defeat Smith, wouldn't you agree?

I was expecting Neo to defeat Smith, but then again, that would have caused a major issue to be solved... because then he had had to battle again with Smith, and again, and again, since EVERYBODY in the Matrix was Smith near the end.

So, the way it turned out seems to be the only way to end the dispute against the One and the "counter"-One... but then again, what DID happen at the end?
It seemed to me that by "absorbing" Neo, Smith either "short-circuited" (for the lack of a more appropriate word), or allowed Neo to destroy him from within.
Whatever happened (I guess we won't figure it out until the W-brothers tell us what they were thinking), after Smith & company explode, Neo disappears from the Matrix... oh well, the whole human race disappears. We only see the Architect, the Oracle and the girl afterwards...

Which gets us back to the question of the header: Did Neo die? Did he return to the source? Is dying a parallel to returning to the source?
And did everyone else plugged into the Matrix also die?

Thoughts?

I too disagree with those points...

- The Oracle is the mother. No surprise.
This was not verified, even if it might have been implied in the Architect's new scene. She seemed to me to have been fighting for the side of the humans since day 01. The Oracle was a program who wanted the Matrix to stop enslaving the humans, the mother of the Matrix is to me the intuitive program working for the system that thought of a better way to keep the batteries plugged in.

- Neo's powers are real in the real world. No surprise. Fuck the MWAMers.
Not Verified. The one line that I bet every MiM believer is going to quote is Morpheus, at the end, says "Is This Real?" Already he doubts what he is seeing, in what you might think is happy disbelief that the miracle could be true. I took it as a cue that no, it is not, but it's as real as he'll ever know.

- Trinity dies. I hoped it would be someone else.
Not arguing this point, tho I sure wish the Kid would die. Wink

- Neo didn't see Bane as Smith red code in the same scene as in the trailer. No surprise. How stupid can people get?
It's not the same sentence, it is the same scene, he sees Smith in red fire after he's blinded, he's blinded right after the speech about "look past the flesh to see your enemy". Of course they have to cut stuff down for the 30 second commercials, the two shots were still within 5 minutes of eachother.

Note the opening sequence, starts with red fire fractals and zooms away from them very much like matrix code. They converge as the camera continues zooming out, and you see they form a piece of a green matrix code, then the camera zooms out more and finally forms into "normal" view. While the "code" isn't the same, I saw nothing to disprove the MiM theory, and at the same time nothing to prove it once and for all. I'm sure that's an intended feature of it, the W bros want you to decide for yourself a lot of the details.

I saw the first showing, 7am Mountain time here, and while I'm pretty sure it was awesome, I do wish some more solid answers were given. Once I see it a few more times I'll have more points, and it looks like KnnKnn will have some things to discuss in the forums for a while to come... Wink

btw I'm totally not looking forward to TMO, I hated most of ETM, the hacking console and the extra movie footage were the only good points of that game, everything else from graphics to controls to sound was utterly horrible to me as a hardcore gamer. UberSoft has a bad track record, tho I'm sure games like these are driven by the producers with budgets and schedules and not the designers and testers who could make a good game if the businessmen would leave them alone.

look past the flesh, to see the enemy within

burnt, I see that the MWAM theory will never die, but can we atleast agree that it was not a plot point of Revolutions?

What do you disagree with, KnnKnn?

Yeah, he looks like an ex-Junkie to me.

I think they didn't want to shock viewers so they decided to feature this truth in their comics or so.

Georgious genius or gay kitsch?

Revolutions was a mosaic-like extension of Reloaded without fullfilling promises (except for the fighting). I cannot tell you right now whether the Architect meeting the Oracle (and the sun shines sooo beautifully) is genius or incredible kitsch.

Is this an ending American housewifes voted for?

I would like to express my dissapointment about this film. I saw it at 2:45pm GMT. Now I cannot belive how dissapointing the film was, me and my friends were like this can't be it? Don't get me wrong this isn't a rant (well kinda due to me being angry and upset), I loved the first two films, thought they were brilliant. But with this film from start to finish I had an empty feeling, I had no overwhelming feelings really. I found it to be cheesey, cliche and as I said empty. It was like scene then another scene then another scene etc... Nothing really was explained, there were so many possibilites, so many ideas, it was just a simplistic cliche film. The scene were Trinity dies was a joke, and what was the ending all about? Everything is fine lardy dar dar the sun comes out. I didn't like it how Neo was portrayed, infact most of the major role charaters. Im just very bitterly dissapointed, but this is just my opinion. It just seemed the whole film was constructed in 10 minutes.

While viewing the end of the Matrix trilogy, i realized that there are several key question which weren't answered in this movie. I am not mad but "disapointed" . My take is that smith could not be destroyed unless neo is distroyed which then will unbalance the matrix, therefore, the two are equals one being negative, smith, and postiteve, neo. The only way i see Trinity dying if Neo also dies as well. Where the hell was morpheus? The guy had like 5 min of movie time, not much for the spiritual leader of Zion. Questions surronding the oracle's apperance were brushed aside as if they really didn't know what to say about what happened to her. The ability of Smith to replicate himself issue was never resolved, im still clueless how he can do that. All the rumors of Merrovigina being a possible former one were false, but it seems his role is cut and more concentration is on Presephones major juggs, which isn't sooo bad. Seraphs role still puzzels me. Neo's powers outside the matrix , i'm guessin, have to be formed with brainwaves connecting somehow to the matrix on the real world. I give up. Bring on LOTR and a decsent conclusion with one that i have no further questions, this ones drivin me nutz.
