Dear forum moderators

I have given you moderator powers for the Matrix Explained Forum, and I ask you to use them wisely:

1)

Do not delete posts...

It has been the rule since the beginning of this forum, that no thread and no post is deleted. No matter how many times somebody said that "the admin is stupid and doesn't get the whole movie" I have never deleted a single post (except for double posts).

...move posts instead

a) If a post makes remarks about the site or the forum then you should move it to
Suggestions and comments regarding matrix-explained.com FORUM

If a thread is about other members ("AzarN is stupid and doesn't get the whole movie") then move it to the
Matrix Chit Chat & Fun FORUM

b) If a thread is chit-chat OR it started as a legitimate question ("Why has Neo black hair?") but 95% of all replies are chit-chat ("...because blonds are too stupid") then move it to the
Chit Chat & Fun FORUM

Do not move a thread to the Chit-Chat forum, just because there are some off-topic posts. Keep a relaxed attitude towards threads and as long the thread itself has some valid on-topic posts keep it where it is.

c) If a thread starts with a non-Matrix related topic ("Bush's war in Afghanistan") then move it to the
Redundant posts and posts with too-many-words-for-too-little-sense
and add (if you want) a note that non-Matrix talk goes to www.in-my-opinion.org.

I have setup this other site especially for such talks when I saw that matrix-explained.com was getting more and more non-Matrix related talks. So far I have saved matrix-explained.com from thousands of such posts and I am happy.

d) If a thread is posted more than once (by spammers or alike) then move it to
Redundant posts and posts with too-many-words-for-too-little-sense
and leave only 1 of those threads in the appropriate forum.

Even if different (of those redundant) threads have already received different answers, move them to "Redundant posts Forum". Simply leave only that thread that has the most replies.

e) If a thread starts with a post that is 95% old material ("Hey, did you notice, that Zion might be within the matrix?") then move it, too, to
Redundant posts and posts with too-many-words-for-too-little-sense
f) If a thread starts with a nonsense post (e.g. a 1-word-thread like "Hello" or something like this) then move it to
Redundant posts and posts with too-many-words-for-too-little-sense
Warning! Some threads have little Matrix info, but are worth chit-chatting (example). Thus they should be in Chit-Chat.
g) If a starting post is mainly featuring a link (example) then move it to
Links to Matrix related sites & Links to trailers
h) Keep an eye on www.dictionary-of-matrix.com

1) If you want I can make a moderator there, too
2) If you see something that would be great to be added to the dictionary then don't hesitate to mention that the poster should add his thoughts to it.

Please note that some threads are sometimes fuzzy/foggy and cannot be clearly classified as "Ask your questions" or as "Matrix theories & Explanations" etc.

Please also read:
http://www.matrix-explained.com/php/post-3720.html#3720

2)

Accidental posts

If a post has been made 2 or more times (= there is 2 or more times the same post one after another = an obvious mistake) then you can delete that post until only 1 is left.

3) As a moderator you see the following 4 icons:

If you don't use the default style of the forum then those icons may differ in position and outlook, but they are there. This is how it looks like in the FISubsilverShadow style:

If you cannot find those icons then you probably need to logout and then to login.

The [x] is to delete the thread. DON'T!
The [arrow] is to move the thread to another forum. This is your primary duty.
The [clasp] is to lock the thread (= nobody can post a reply). DON'T!
The [||] is to split the thread into 2 threads. HARDLY EVER do this.

Warning: You cannot use the [arrow] to combine 2 threads into 1 (= merge/append one thread to another). This function is not supported by the forum software.

4)

A warning regarding thread moving!

Do not move posts to old (= pre-Revolutions) forums. These forums have the text "[before Revolutions]" in their names. They are historical forums containing only posts BEFORE Matrix 3. I have closed those forums on the day that Matrix Revolutions came out and all those posts and are kept for nostalgic reasons. You do not have moderator powers there and all posts moved there will be LOCKED and no new posts belong there.

5)

A remark regarding splitting!

In the VERY seldom cases you decide to split threads post a link in Thread1 that a part of the thread continues in Thread2, and make a link in Thread2 to original Thread1. Split only in the very cases where a thread includes 2 topics (chit chat is not a topic) that are discussed in turns. But even if such cases it is most probably better NOT to split.

6)

A warning regarding shadow topics!

If you move a thread then this will show up:

Leave shadow topic in old forum

Do not have this box checked. Shadow topics are not needed!
If it happens accidentally, that you moved a topic and had the checkbox checked then you have to delete the shadow topic by doing the following:
a) Go to the forum where you see the shadow topic as "Moved: XXXXXXXX"
b) Scroll down the page where it says "You can moderate this forum".
c) Click on "moderate"
d) Mark the "Moved: " topic
e) Press the [Delete] button

7)

You are free to disagree

Being a moderator does not mean that you have to agree with the admin (= me) or other moderators. Feel free to disagree and to have your own opinion.

8)

Do not correct spellings

If a user misspelled (mispeld) a word then do not correct it.

9)

Polls

You don't have moderator powers in the Poll Forum. Thus if there's something that should be deleted OR if you have a good idea for a new poll you need to contact me.

10)

Don't threaten

Don't threaten anybody to stop posting an opinion that disagrees with your own or to stop being aggressive towards you, just because you are an moderator. Don't say "If you call me stupid one more time I will put this thread to the redundant posts" or similar. Actually you shouldn't even mention that you are a moderator.

11)

Back to the roots

I can for any reason or for no good reason decide to take away your precious powers again.

12)

Questions?

If there are questions regarding your new powers or if you don't know what to do with a thread then send private message to me.
